had my ba yesterday
Hi everyone
Well I had my nm yesterday, the cold wasn't that bad and I didn't have a fever so the docs said it was ok for the op. I'm in hospital now, kept the drains in overnight....it looks like I'm loosing a fair amount of blood over 150ml in each drain, is this normal? The nurses dont say much!! Also I'm in a quite a bit of pain, especially where the drains are.my sternum. really hurts to and I can't move much nurses are giving me paracetamol and I had a small dose of liquid morphine at 2am that didn't help at all....cant wait to see the ps to ask for better pain releif and about the blood I'm loosing...this phone is doing my head in, can't write properly so will post when I get. home...p.s sorry to rant x

Re: had my ba yesterday
Congrats on the new boobies techygirl xx
I can't advise about the drains but sure someone will soon, and Im sure the ps wont keep you waiting too long.
Being in pain is not nice, ask for some more painkillers - maybe they just didn't give you enough?
Hope you are home and comfy in your bed soon xx

Aww hunni I know what your going through,
Ask for stronger pain killers as the paracetamol aren't helping
I had drains but I didn't look how much blood was in them, remember that all the blood is coming out and it won't be causing the bruising inside you, is it bright red blood or dark?

Re: had my ba yesterday
hi i had mine done on the 3rd and i had drains too mine were emptied 3 times so there was quite alot so dont panic about that from what i could hear between my ps and nurse the more the better. Ive had no signs of bruising apart from the drain sight and ive not taken any pain killers for a few days now so hang on in there its gets better quickly x

Re: had my ba yesterday
Thanks everyone, the ps has been to see me, I think he was annoyed by how little meds I was given, he has dosed me up now :-) I have a lot of swelling by my sternum which the ps is a little concerned about, although the boobs look great, not swollen much at all. I have to stay another night and go nil by mouth from 12pm as he may need to operate again tomorrow if ky sternum hasn't improved :-( fingers crossed it will all be fine. Still happy with my new boobies - thanks again girls you are all a great support Xx

Glad your PS as upped ur meds now, least you maybe pain free for a while.
Hopefully he won't have to operate again tomorrow and the swelling on ur sternum goes down. What would the re-op involve?
Wishing you well honey .

Hey hun - sorry to hear they were being stingey on the pain relief! But glad they are on top of it now and have dosed you up :D
Hopefully you don't need to have anymore surgery, and your swelling subsides on it's own overnight....

Hi Techygirly,
How are you feeling? I truly hope your swelling goes down and a re-op isn't necessary - although i though swelling the first 2 days is normal? What does your PS say the problem is?
sending u gentle hugs!!

Re: had my ba yesterday
Lol my last msg sent again, feel better this afternoon ps coming back in the am to say whether re op is needed he's concerned about my sternum. i think something happened in surgery he mentioned something about bleeding too much and keeping my blood pressure high, not sure why. I feel so much better so not so worried now. Fingers crossed he will give me the all clear tomorrow. Off to sleep now, getting sleepy with the tramadol lol thanks again girls you are all stars!! Xxxx
