Re: June Buddies
This whole thing seems like the longest wait ever! Just need to get through May then it will soon be our turn :)
My surgeon said to stop the pill (I'm on yasmin) few weeks before but I stopped it last week just to be on the safe side. He told my sister she was fine to take hers during her ba but she is on a different one so guess its different for everyone. I've also heard no vitamins and to not take anything with asprin in two weeks beforehand but best to check with your surgeon :)
g0902- where have you brought your sports bras from? X

Re: June Buddies
Halo - ahh you are just a few days before me! I am the 5th June
I stopped the pill about a week or two ago - also just to be on the safe side. My surgeon didn't actually tell me to come off it but i thought id rather be safe than sorry so took it upon myself to come off it :p
I bought a few. One was a cheap one from primark - it was just for my first sizing appointment. My 2nd one is from marks and spencers online outlet, it is fab! It is a zip front one which will be great for first day post op as it is so easy to get in and out of and it was only £14! bargain! (I can get u the link for it if you like?) the next ones i bought was a 2 pack (in marks and spencers store) - they are also great, the back of it hooks up like a normal bra. Wouldn't even know its a sports bra but again, it seems like a great bra. It was £20 for the two

Yeah that's what I would have thought too that there would be a standard practice! It's odd! I'm gonna question him on it, am due to see him again in a few weeks. I'm glad I asked, I hadn't realised there were different views on it!
Excellent, your first purchases!! The M&S front fasten sounds fab, will defo get those! I need to buy a V pillow and bras, I keep looking but am dithering on size as I'm having an uplift only so I'm likely to go down a cup size. I'm currently a very empty and saggy D :-( . Have bought bio oil and palmers cream in readiness, and same as you booked time off work, that's it so far! I want it to be here! Not long now for you, almost be under a month soon! Woohoo! Xxx

Re: June Buddies
Ah i am sure the pip implants wasn't a great experience! I have decided on the Allergan anatomicals 300cc - my surgeon recommended these firstly because they tend to provide a more natural look, they also seem to be the best on the market a the minute and he said there is a lot of research behind them. they also offer replacement implants for serious CC and £700 towards your re-op which is reassuring - I doubt they would offer this if they thought everyone would have problems with them! My surgeon also works on NHS and said he chooses these for his NHS patients.
But as with everything regarding boobies, every surgeon has different opinions! but i hope your consultation goes well hun :)
Glad I was able to help! :D its a great wee bra, and a gorgeous colour! the zip line is all padded so also no worries about it rubbing on your skin :)
Eddy - yeah definitely question your surgeon, after all we are paying good money for their expertise. the link for the front fasten one:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I should also buy the V pillow, hadn't actually thought about that one! Well a nice perky C would be lovely! Thats what I am aiming for - although i am very flat chested. i can't wait to the final countdown month! I booked my consultation in June and time has gone by so quickly!! Not too long for you either :-) xxx

Re: June Buddies
OMG it is officially next month!!! starting to get really really excited now (bar the last hurdle of having to tell my dad) and can't wait!!! :)
halo, wow your 4th!! you must be experienced in the whole recovery thing by now then! and i imagine you'll be the first of us june buddies :)
really confusing the mixed messages about the pill! i had read somewhere that you should come off it, but when i got my pre-op info in the post, it said that for a straightforward BA i didn't have to come off it (they don't even know which pill i'm on), but that for some more intrusive procedures they would recommend coming off it. The risk of dvt must be quite small then?
i will quiz the nurse and my surgeon on this when i see them in 2 weeks, but i would rather not have to come off it to be honest! not that i even 'need' it at the moment but the whole mess of cycles sorting themselves out again, on top of my BA recovery and all that, is just something i'd much rather not have to deal with--
my other thing is my helix piercing (top of my ear), i have read that most surgeons will want you to take it out, but that sometimes they allow you to tape it over.. i have not taken mine out in 10 years!! and again would much rather not have to deal with this along with my recovery.. they do have plastic retainers but if i can't raise my arms above my head i would have to get my sister to put my piercing back in.. hm gross! x

Re: June Buddies
I have exams right up until 27th may so hopefully the time flies in!! Very exciting month for us all :)
When my sister had her op she was told to come off it entirely, however, my surgeon knows I'm on the pill and didn't mention coming off it to me. The risk of DVT is quite low, but for me personally (a big worrier!) its one less possible risk with the surgery. but if ur surgeon hasn't mentioned it he must be pretty confident that it isn't necessary.
again, with the piercing id say its surgeons personal preference. Mine told me no metal at all. Id run everything past your surgeon just so you know for definite.. you are paying for his expertise, so squeeze as much information out of him/her as possible :p

Re: June Buddies
haha i will, am going to start making a list of questions in the next 2 weeks so that i can literally rattle through EVERYTHING with him
i'm a worrier as well and will verify the pill thing with him, but if he says its not necessary to come off it, then i trust him on that. would be great for convenience x

Re: June Buddies
I done that on my very first consultation.. think i scared him a little as i had just met him haha but i had sooooo many questions to ask.
Yeah, i think its important to trust your surgeon! I just hope mine didn't forget to mention the pill so i decided to take it upon myself to come off it haha. probably completely unnecessary though!

Still as nervous though even though i know what its like, i think its just the fact we are knocked out and completley in the hands of others thats scary not suprising really though eh lol xx
