Work worries Empty Work worries

Post by cupcake1991 5th March 2013, 9:35 pm

Hi ladies

Just wondering how you handled people at work when you had your ba? I have told my boss that I'm having it done next year & she is very happy for me & supportive (she actually wants a ba too). The problem is... The two ladies I have to share a room with are horrible. They have a reputation for picking on people and have tried this with me ever since I started there. They have been there for over 10 years and are old enough to know better really.

My boss thinks we will have to tell them I am having my boobies done as when I return I won't be able to lift the heavy boxes I have to move about occasionally. I just really don't want to tell them as I know they will just bitch about me! Whether its to my face or not.. I just don't feel like they deserve to know as its my personal choice & my body.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions please? I'm only having the op next year but I am already worried about this as they have previously more or less bullied me and tried to make work life hell for me.

Thanks, xx

Yeah I thought I could say that & if they ask what the surgery Is for I guess I could tell them that I prefer not to discuss it. Just makes me feel awkward really!

It's none of their business. Just say "surgery" and if they ask, just say "it's personal" x

How about saying you've strained your back and you doc has requested you not to do any heavy lifting? Your boss can back you up.

At the end of the day though, they sound like sad, miserable old women who obviously have nothing better to do than be mean. I wouldn't worry too much about what they think :) xx

Agree with hannah babe. A bad back is an excellent excuse for not lifting and if you are still a little sore (hunched) returning to work this will act as a good explanation to disguise that too.

Don't ever feel you have to share something so personal to you with anyone lovely. You're not lying in not sharing (a little white lie never hurt anyone) It your choice who you tell and you don't hun, so don't ever feel pressurised lovely. You CAN get away with not telling if this is your choice so don't worry about it hun, it'll be fine and it'll give you something to secretly smile about know knowing you know something those two catty witches don't know HA! I agree with cookie, if you don't want to mention your ba you don't have too. If anything is said just brush it under the carpet and laugh. X

I was really worried about this too as my work HATE me taking time off for anything and frown on "sickness".
So I booked off 10 days and then told them I was having "some breast tissue removed that is none cancerous" - they were really sweet about it all - even sent me flowers.
That way it made me look good as I'd booked off holiday for a time when I was actually signed off by doctor and then they also let me work from home the following week as I hadn't had my dressings etc removed yet.
It's a tough one and was embarrassing having the conversations and slightly awkward my first day back (Monday) but no point in getting yourself worried about it now as at the end of the day think of the bigger picture - it's a drop in the ocean time wise when you have that "awkwardness" and suddenly you'll have a fantastic new body! xx
