Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
I had my 2nd consultation with my surgeon today and he seemed nicer than the 1st time, maybe I'm just getting used to him.
Anyway this time he was writing down in my notes, allllllll of the questions I asked him. is this normal? He was writing literally everything. do they do this to cover themselves incase I'm not happy after surgery, so they can say 'well we did cover this and answered all your questions and you seemed happy'?
Also he confirmed that the CUI's come in medium low and medium high profiles, but I think I am going for Natrelles now, so he has said that in those I would get high profile implants. Does this mean Natrelles have a lesser projection than CUI's?
He didn't really want to show me any pictures of his work, the PC had to ask soooo nicely...and even then he only showed me ONE. I know I shouldn't look at others for an image of what mine will look like, but I think its important to see your surgeon's work and I'm not naive enough to think I will get the same results as someone else whose body is different tomine. Is it normal for him not to want to show me his pics?
Alsoooo....I get the feeling he prefers to do unders than overs but he said he will do overs for me if that's what i want. He said he used to do many overs but now mainly does unders because of rippling. He kept banging on and on and on about rippling, which I knoooow is more of a risk with overs, but this made me feel like he was covering himself incase theya do go on to ripple. I asked why he went from doing mainly overs and he said he didn't want to be interrogated on his medical decisions, which I respected fully and didn't ask again, but I'm wondering...did a lot of his overs used to end up rippling....
I took all the consultation questions Cookie kindly emailed me and was working through the most important ones, as well as my own questions, and he told me I was very meticulous. I mean...aren't I supposed to ask questions. He should wonder if i'm not asking questions, no?
A little update.... if you've read my previous post, you'll know that I was offered 520s by Dr Frati. I tried these on today and they defo looked too big and when Kazzazi looked at my boobs he said 'oh NO, no, no, too big!', so I'm sticking with the 460s. I'm thinking it will be easier for me just to play them up or down with different bras when I want?
One little laugh to finish..... he wanted to see my boobs when I started talking about 520s, to see the breast tissue, so I whipped my top and bra off and my bloody nipples stood to attention because it was cold once they were exposed.....soooo embarrassing!!!
sorry for another long post, thought I'd just get it all out in one go, thanks if you've read all the way through. xxx

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Here are the catalogues for CUI: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] as you can see they only come in high or low profile, but the one lot are called MHP or MLP so could be confused to its meaning the M stands for Microcell (textured) not moderate and the HP is high profile LP is Low profile.
Thenaturelle catalogue is here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]hm I don't like the fact he said he didn't want to be interrogated as I think it's a fair question, you're the one being operated on and you want all the facts before you make an informed decision. If it was me and he didn't know why he wanted to do unders and he didn't know about the type of implants used I'd be worried what else he didn't know. As for not showing you pictures why not? Lots of surgeons have websites showing before and after pics, they always take before and after pics.
As for rippling, the naturelle soft touch gel or the CUI CMH implants both have form stable gummi bear type gel in them which can reduce the risk of rippling.
If it was me hun, I'd be looking elsewhere at surgeons, but that's just me.

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
I think he prefers to do unders in general... He said its up to me and I would prefer unders. He quite rightly said that if he didn't think I could have either one he would say or refuse me surgery, so that's fair enough. xx

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Thanks for the links misf1, they're really helpful.
It wasn't that he didn't know why he wanted to do unders, it was that he preferred not to say, and I'm wondering why he didn't want to say.
Re the implants, its probably me who has got confused somewhere along the line. He has been doing BA's and reconstructive surgery for 20 years and is the Medical Director at MYA (the boss of the Surgeons so the PC said), so I'm confident he knows what he's doing....I think... x

Tinkerbell is it easy to tell when touching? i think if its not visible then its not so bad. plus you're under the muscle aswell so its possible on either placement.
Have there been many people on here with rippling?

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Rippling is very common, we have many ladies who can feel their rippling, however I've not seen anyone with visable rippling so far.
Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Im not sure if Id feel comfortable with him doing my surgery and like misf1 I think I would go elsewhere.
If you feel 100% happy with him then go ahead, if not search a few others.x x

If there's one thing that reeeeaaaaaalllly gets my goat, its surgeons who DON'T take responsibility for their own work!!!
He, as an expert in this field should know the placement that's best for your your body type.
Its not about HIS personal preference for a placement. No two women are the same, its about about what best fits you! And if he can't make that decision without being 'impartial'. And then laying the responsibility of choice on YOU, then sweetie, I'd run a million miles.
It also deeply concerns you that he was so affronted at being asked to see his work. Any surgeon proud of their work will be showing off picture after picture until you have to tell them enough!!! lol. This is your second warning sign after not running after the first.
The last is that he obviously felt uncomfortable with you. You weren't the regular naive patient who sat there got told they're having X amount of CCs under the muscle, excepted that and walked out the door as blind as you walked in - no, you wanted to know exactly what the procedure plan was and exactly what that would involved and you put him on the spot, he wasn't ready or prepared for you and he should have been!
ALL surgeons should know and be prepared for any questions put to them and if they give any care for their patient, they'd give you all the time it took to explain and ensure you understand. All this guy did was complain and put the responsibility on you!
Its not my choice hun, but if you're asking Afro advise. I'd advise you move on until you find a surgeon ready and prepared to discuss the surgery plan that is tailored to your body (not out of preference) and that they chose what was right for you based on their expert opinions and would be prepared to back up their decisions because they knew what the heck they were talking about. Xxx
Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Thank you all for your advice. I'm going to talk to my PC about my concerns on Monday but I don't hold out much hope, she is new and has got that -new girl lack of confidence in herself- thing.
I thought I was getting boobies in April but it's looking like this may not be the case. Sigh.

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
So sorry its not working out as easy as you'd hoped hun but you're doing the right thing in holding out for the best for YOU. A surgeon with 'personal preferences' lovely is looking to do what they personally feel is right for themselves with little regard for what is right to get the best for your body type. Xx
Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Hmmm have to agree with cookie Hun. Seems quite worrying he says HE doesn't want to be interrogated.. , and being maticulous well yes of course you want to come prepared something I think most surgeons are thrown by as cookie says most girls have one consulation accept what ten surgeon says for gospel and settles for what they're told, and never ask why or any questions as to choice.
As for rippling well all I'll say to that is thats rubbish , irregardless of placement most implants ripple, all mine have and have all been unders ,. It's due to skin and lack of breast tissue of how much the rippling with be visible nd feel. For most it's just a scapploed feel and slightly visabe but nothing at all to be concerned about.
Just remember its only the top part of the implant covered by muscle the bottom half is not, mine have rippled on the outter sides and underneath slightly . But again just the scalloped feeling and not visable.

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
I didn't realise just how differently consultants DO things - until I went on a second consult this week and saw a doctor who's answers were in depth, well-informed, confident and put me at ease. My first consult made me feel the way you do - I thought he has 30 years experience, and is obviously capable, totally qualified, teaches etc BUT like Cookie and the others say - it has to be right for you AND your body. Like you, he wouldn't show pics & took the sizing decision completely in his own hands but left me deciding on implant shape.
I have suprised myself and am waiting to hear availability for surgery with a doctor with a fraction of those years under his belt, but who I knew fairly quickly was the right one for me. You need that feeling of support, trust, confidence.
Keep looking. It's worth it.

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
I agree with the others. He should be professional enough to answer all your questions. Also proud enough to show you his work! I don't like the sound of him at all.
One other thing I personally feel is in life in general, although with time comes experience, so dose complacency. I am sure it is no different is the medical field. Although I am sure 95% of surgeons don't become complacent over time, don't rule out the younger ones with slightly less experience. They may be fresher and more eager to do an amazing job for YOU personally and your body. Hope that makes sense.
Id def see another ps. Good luck! xx

Sorry but I just read my typo and its had me in stitches, crying ad I haven't been able to breath for 5 minutes!!!
That mean to say asking 'for' advise! This ipad can be hilarious with its mind of its own typos at times

Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Cookie I actually just laughed out loud. I am mixed race (half black) so I could well be looking for afro advice, you might just be one step ahead of me lolol.
Mrsball you have just taught me something new!! I didn't know the breast muscle covered the implant only at the top. That is really interesting to know. Is that the same with overs i.e. is the implant covered only by the breast tissue at the top?
I don't like to be swayed by others, I usually like to make my own mind up, but most of you who are commenting have all been there and done it, and even the pre ba girls can tell he isn't right so I can't not listen to that. Its actually ridiculous that he didn't want to explain why he now does mainly unders, and would only let me see one picture. I'm not going to be handing over my hard-earned money or my body on a whim!
I have put my £500 deposit down though so if not him, I will have to go with one of the other surgeons at MYA, will see what the PC says...

No sweetness, if you have enough breast tissue it will cover and cushion the entire implant.
This diagram might help you better understand. Note the release at the bottom of the implant on the picture of partials.
Re: Questions for/opinions from you ladies....
Hi, I had to post after reading yours, my surgeon showed me lots of before n after shots in my consultation on his big projection screen and answered all my questions. Pictures are a great way to communicate ideas! I also am aghast that he said u were interogating him on his medical decisions! What a bad attitude and maybe it isnt but it sounds defensive! U r paying him for his service and were asking a question that was relevant and important to u. x
