Pre op screening
Hi girls, I've not long had a call (yes, at half 6 on a Sunday evening...) from Fitzroy Square telling me I've got to go in on tues for my blood tests and MRSA screening. Can't believe it's been left to the last minute to tell me and apart from all the stress of having to rearrange work and child care so I can go, I'm stressing in case there's a problem, like what if I test +ve to MRSA, will my surgery be cancelled?
We've had a terrible start to the year (a whole other story...) and it's just one thing after another :-(

Re: Pre op screening
Its not worth stressing hun unless you actually have something to stress over and as yet Mandy, everything is just fine.
Go and have the tests done and 'IF' there's a problem, you can take things from there hun. That's what I'd advise anyway sweetie. Xx

Re: Pre op screening
If you are MRSA positive then they won't cancel, they'll just make you last on the list and give you the stelisept wash. Don't worry. Bit annoying they've left it till so late though.
Yay not long to go for you though!

Re: Pre op screening
It's annoying when you have to then make further arrangements. I had to take a afternoon off work two days before my BA for pre op the nurse literally couldn't do any other time. Luckily my boss was ok as knew what my two weeks off were for but everyone else was less then impressed with my afternoon off a day before two weeks annual leave lol.
I'm sure all your checks will be fine and like Cookie says if for some reason there is something deal with if then :) good luck for Tuesday lovely xx

Just out of my appt and I've been told that if the mrsa tests are positive, my surgery will be postponed till a later date.... This will be a disaster! I've got all my annual leave booked and everything. I'm almost in tears here just thinking about it

Oh Mandy.... I believe everything happens for a reason sweetheart and the postponement must be in your best interest hun and although it may be the worst news ever for you now lovely, once you get everything sorted - and you WILL! Your boobs will be all the better for the wait Mandy.
Your safety in theatre is priority Mandy and if there's anything at all that has the possibility to interfere with that during or after surgery then I'm sure you'll agree that its better to wait until the time is right and they get everything sorted to ensure a safe and good result for you lovely.
Big hugs I can only imagine how hard it must feel for you right now. Xx
Re: Pre op screening
Been reading and it's only a 3% chance of having it... Please let it be ok!
