Scars and self conscious
I am 19 almost 20 years old and have wanted my breasts done. I have my reasons for it so if you wanna know why just ask. I want to be able to breast feed later in life when I have a child, so I don't want to do any damage and have the incision around my nipple so I plan to go underneath my breast. I am EXTREMELY pale so I'm sure my scar won't be very noticeable, but I am really self conscious about a scar. I have a boyfriend and he is completely supportive of this because its what I want, but we are on a rocky road and I don't want to be with somebody in the future who is disgusted by a scar.. Is anybody else self conscious about it? Or does anybody have any tips on reducing scarring so it's less noticeable in the future?

Re: Scars and self conscious
Hello and welcome to Breast Buddies Shelli
Are you in the US or the UK?
Here in the UK a breast crease incision (inframammory incision) is the most common scar when having a BA, so no worries about having trouble breast feeding in the future. Incisions through the areola are more common in the states, but I'm sure if you relayed your concerns on to your surgeon he would listen to your wants and wouldn't have any problems with a crease incision.
The scars are really nothing at all to be concerned about. You can take a look at mine after my first BA after healing to show you just how small and almost invisible they are. Take a look [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Unless I actually showed someone my scars, no-one would have ever known they were there.
I'm sorry to read you and your boyfriend are having a few problems right now, but this surgery really should be all about you and what you want from doing this. If scars are something that might bother your boyfriend and then that in turn might bother 'you' then this is really something you should both discuss 'before' you have the surgery Shelli. If he tells you he wouldn't be happy with any scars you have from having a BA, this may have an impact on the decision you make, so best get that conversation over with now so you know his feelings pre-BA.
As for your reasons for having the surgery done... That's your business Shelli, and unless you ever wanted to disclose those reasons you'll get no pressure here from anyone to reveal them. All that matters to us is that you're here for support/advice about a BA and we can be here for to help you through your booby journey and whatever decisions you decide to take.
Also as you're pre BA you might find the information we have in the 'Breast Augmentation Information' section of the forum of interest to you. Its filled with so much to help you better understand the procedure and to help yourself feel better prepared. Any questions or concerns you might have just ask away in the 'General Breast Augmentation' section of the forum were no BA questions ever go unanswered and our lovely ladies will always be more than happy to help you if they can.

Re: Scars and self conscious
Ah cookies advice is perfect. I have to agree. At first I was worried about my scars, as when they are new you can see them, but once they've healed they're always hidden as a faint white line in the breast crease, so unless you point it out no one would see.
Re: Scars and self conscious
My incisions are in the crease and they are still a bit red and raised as I'm only 2 months post op but they don't bother me atall they are very neat and this was also one of my biggest worries. Have a few consultations and see what they say it may help to make you decide whether you want it done. I'm 20 too by the way and its the best thing (apart from my 2 babies) that I've ever done for myself :) xx

Re: Scars and self conscious
I agree with the comment of boys care more about boobs than scars. Mine left scar is invisible and my rightie is flat but thicker and redder ...but they don't show unless I'm totally topless and my DH has NEVER complained. not to be TMI but he's all over them, scars and all!!
men are generally pretty easy.
but examine your feelings, because I personally couldn't give a hoot about scars since I just wanted nice boobies, but some girls may be miserable with any scarring. You just have to know yourself. But we're hear from you whenever you have any questions or need reassuring!
