Vitamin E as a Preventative???
Hey Ladies
As i am driving myself insane waiting for the call to confirm times ive been doing some research.
I currently have CC and it hurts so bad.. anyway so i have been reading on ways to prevent it and apparently a high dose of Vitamin E daily (1000-1500iu) for 6 weeks post surgery... then take it down to 800iu, then 400iu for life can help prevent it. Does anyone take it?

Re: Vitamin E as a Preventative???
ive been googleing... and vitamin e is an antioxident so is good for hair, skin etc... so would be good for healing the skin.. stretching skin (that dreaded itch), i am not sure how it works internally but would assume its something to do with keeping the capsule supple so it doesnt tighten and contract. Says to take from 2 weeks post op.. i'm going to give it ago in the hope i can prevent it from happening again. Its relatively cheap anyway. I would assume Vitamin C helps it absorb too.. Also piercing a capsule and rubbing the oil directly into the scare is meant to help.. I use those silicone strips anyway but still will give this ago.. it cant hurt lol

I've never taken it and didn't suffer cc with my 1st ba and had my first implants for 5 years and they stayed really soft . I think you can't predict or prevent cc if it's going to happen its going to happen its how your body deals and reacts . X

Don't take ANY vitamins on the run up your BA girls. Especially vitimin E which is an antioxidant and can prevent the blood sticking together preventing healing.
So just be aware of that girls. Xx

It's 2 weeks post op it says... Which is what I'm going to try! Might sort my hair out too! Since I turned 30 my hair has changed.. Very odd.

You should definitely ask your surgeon first. I've always heard to avoid anything that thins the blood before ANY surgery.
Hair does change as we get older, but you might want to see your GP about that as it could be related to thyroid performance, or perhaps an underlying illness of some kind. The internet is a wonderful thing, you will see many opinions, but it doesn't substitute the advice of a professional doctor or surgeon you see in person

I definitely wouldn't take any supplements (except arnica) before your op, but I did take vitamin e for a month after the operation (not high amounts - just one a day tablets) as I figured it was worth a try!x
