Vitamin E
Has anyone taken vitamin E to help with preventing the onset of CC and helping the healing process? I think I've been reading too much about Capsular Contracture and getting worried about developing it, I want to do everything I can to avoid it!

Re: Vitamin E
Hiya Jess
I took the capsules from boots for about 4 weeks but have stopped taking them, its never been proven to stop CC from developing but i think its worth a go and i dont know if it was all in my mind but mine seemed to get a lot softer when i started taking them.

Re: Vitamin E
I cant see the harm in taking it before your op Kerrymac vit e is good for you anyway as its a powerful antioxidant, although check with your ps when you need to stop taking any vitamins i think its normally 2-4 weeks before your op.

Re: Vitamin E
Hi hun,
I've bought some vit E ready to take but I don't think you're supposed to take it 2 weeks pre or post op. Apparently it's a bit like aspirin in that it thins the blood and so it might cause excessive bleeding. I'm going to check with my nurse next week exactly when it's safe to take

Re: Vitamin E
I was advised pre-op to buy 100% pure organic vit. e to dab on incisions to aid healing and soften scar tissue. It is a very thick 'globby' consistency and a tiny drop on each one appeared to help mine as so0n as dressings were removed. My scars have always been small and smooth. I was advised to wear micropore tape too for same reason and prevent bra rubbing.
Again we are all advised different, some say Rosehip which is also proven to heal sacar tissue. Taking it in capsule formand vit. C after would aid healing too. xxx

Re: Vitamin E
Hi Jess!! And other girls interested in vit.e.!!
I just checked on my bottle of (Jason, Pure, Natural and Organic) vit. e. thaT I used externally for scars it is 45,000 i.u. in strength. It does come in lower strength, but it was advised to get the highest I could source. It is only 2fl ounces in bottle and I still have about half left after this time, as only a tiny bit is advised. I got it from a health store I think it was around £15-18?
I take a multivitimin with 1000i.u. in daily when I remember.
I do think a good alternative to external vit.e. would be the micropore tape that Was given to me by P.S., it is cheap and very effective, and if you prefer bio-oil for massage no point in double time and expense. I think what you are advised is best, but trying other options from real experience of girls here is good too. It is difficult to determine what really worked, as in my case, my incisions were neat and smooth from the outset of dressing removal. However, I do have a very bad habit...smoking!! which is not good for healing or genenl health and wellbeing, :pale: so I used these.
Hope it is of some help to anyone thinking of it. xx
