25days and counting....
hey girls!
Im having my op in 25days and the nerves are starting already! really excited too though!
Ive never had any type of surgery before this and id love any advice about what i should/shouldn't be doing in the run up to the op? I will be meeting with a nurse soon to go through it all, but I'm totally clueless at the moment!
Thanks so much for any pointers, this forum has been great!

Re: 25days and counting....
Exciting times Hun!
Arnica is a personal choice if you've been told to take it start a week before op.
It's helped some ladies , some not.
I remember something about fish oils not to take them just before and after as due to them thinning the blood or something.
No smoking or alcohol
Just make sure you have everything prepared before hand, ready meals in the fridge and freezer. Ice packs on hand for recovery.
Maybe book yourself in for a wash and blow dry at your salon for a few days after as you may not be able to wash your hair yourself plus it's a treat to look foward to.
And most importantly don't worry and enjoy the day! X

thanks mrsball
Ya, I wouldnt have even thought about preparing meals or trying to wash my hair! I'll look into the arnica and fish oils, I think I read somewhere aswell not to take vitamin e if thats right?
I dont smoke anyway which is fine, but should i stop drinking alcohol from now on? or just in the week coming up to the op?
Thats great cookie, hopefully my surgein will give me something similar when i meet him again before the op! just in case he does do anything differently!
Thanks again

Re: 25days and counting....
just read in your notes cookie about flying long haul after surgery?
I'm going to L.A. on either the 9th or 16th of March which is going to be 5-6weeks after surgery? I'm going with work and this is a huge oppurtunity within my company so I really dont want to cancel?
I'll obviously have to discuss this with my surgeon but can anyone shed any light on this? has anyone else had to fly so soon after an op? Im not sure how long the flight will be but its Ireland to L.A. so I'm guessing it is definately long-haul?

Re: 25days and counting....
Its definitely a long haul flight you're taking lovely and 12 weeks post-op is the recommended period of time to wait before flying, so if its so important to you hun this is definitely something you need to go through with your surgeon. Xx

Hey!!! Congrats! So exciting.. I've got 4 days to go!! I haven't drank since Xmas eve, I've tried to eat as healthy as poss, my surgeon said don't take any vitamin tablets and come off the pill. I don't smoke either so I think I've done as much as I can to help a speedy recovery! Good luck, enjoy!!! Xx

thanks Charfaye! your so close now how exciting!
I was never told about the pill actually, and im due to start taking it again in a few days, i better ring them and check? haha I'm becoming the most annoying patient, ringing them everyday!
I rang them earlier about the flight and they said I will be ok to fly at that stage as its a quick op so you dont get put under for that long! So im able to get my boobies and go to L.A. as planned! yeaaahhh
