starting to get excited
Hello, i'm starting to get really excited about having a BA. I'm off to see the surgeon on Monday for a consultation and will probably book a date. I feel so positive about it and over the weekend i intend to phone my parents and tell them my plans. Bit nervous about making that phone call, but i know its something i need to do. Whether they respond in a good or bad way, i still need them to know, don't want to be secretive.
Will let you all know what happens on Monday x :)

Good luck! It's such an exciting journey to be on.
I still haven't told my parents. I think I might tell my mum. As they live in a diff country it'd be easy for me to just not tell them, but I know my mum would be hurt if I didn't share with her.... It was hard enough telling the boyf...! eek.

Great! Glad to hear you're feeling positive :) I've really enjoyed getting mine and think it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I didn't tell my parents but that's because they're pushing 70 and I don't think it's fair to stress them out. To be honest though, now that I'm post-op I dont' think having a BA is a big deal at all (very easy now it's all over I know! )!
Good luck with it all.

Thats what i feel my mum would feel. I think she would rather support me, than not know at all, i think that would hurt her. I know if it was one of my daughters in the future, i'd rather be there to take care of her and make sure she is safe, than not know.
Its going to be a difficult phone call, i will tell my mum, who will probably be lovely and understanding. But then after the phone call she will tell my dad, who will probably hit the roof, phone me back and ask what on earth i'm thinking!! Well i'm prepared for that and i think its only natural,- its his way of showing he cares, just comes across wrong.
Wish me luck!

Oh Good luck and I hope they take it well. Do they know you've been unhappy with your boobs? If they do it might not come as a shock .

Re: starting to get excited
Me been very brave!! I spoke to my mum today and in her words she said 'you're a grown woman, its up to you' she was very supportive, i said i had been worried about telling her and she told me not to be so daft. Bless her she was so lovely, she said couldn't i just wear a padded bra?, and i said i had them, so then i said i had a consultation on Monday and she said ooh let me know how you get on. Then finally she said she would come shopping with me and buy me my first 'big' bra!!! She was so sweet.
That is a big weight off my shoulders and i feel really happy to go ahead with it now.
Oh the other thing she said was instead of having implants i could have some of hers as she could do with getting rid of a bit!! She's funny, made me laugh.
I bought a gel bra today from Primark and it makes a bit of difference, not a lot though. Couldn't find chicken fillets in there, think that would have helped.
Trying to boost my boobs a bit before i have my BA, so people at work don't notice so much.
Will let you know how i get on on Monday

Re: starting to get excited
Congrats for getting over the first hurdle of telling your loved ones of your intention to have a BA. My mum has only just started talking to me about it, before she was avoiding the situation for a long time but she has come round now she knows I'm serious about it. Your mums reaction was great, it will be a lot easier for you to have supportive people around you x x

Re: starting to get excited
You need to wait until you are ready to tell your loved ones. I new i was ready to tell them, but i didn't tell my husband i was going to tell them. Reason for that is i would have felt pressure from him to 'make the call' and i didn't want that. I told him straight after the phone call and he was pleased i had done so.

That's exactly how I would want my daughter to feel!!! You are thoughtfull!! And Dads are Dad's as you say...!!
I am soo glad you enabled your Mum to support you...She is obviously delighted you did. It is something that your Mum can still be a Mum to you with and a friend and Nurse. Lucky You , makes it all the more exciting and worthwhile. Happy Days ahead!! xxxx

Re: starting to get excited
many thanks Mia. I gained some confidence today and also told my sister in law. She was surprised, and also said i could have some of hers (she does have very large boobies) and then she asked if they could give her a reduction!! I feel better telling people than letting them guess and talk behind my back. I don't seem to have a problem telling other women, but i would have felt awkward telling her infront of my brother in law. So far so good. I haven't heard from my dad yet, but its probably best to let things settle before i phone again, i'm sure he will be ok, but it may take some time for him to adjust.

Re: starting to get excited
soo pleased for you!!!
Your Dad might just ignore it though.....i.e. a woman's thingy!! they do tend to leave things to mum's...embaressment Any men who are related would probably find it the same I think or go the other way and be angry!!! You cant please everyone, you have done all you can for everyone. But you sure can please yourself, and your Mum sounds like you have just strenghthened your relationship, taken it to a deeper understanding and your sister too.
Lucky You...Boobies here you come xxx

Re: starting to get excited
I spoke to mum today to let her know i had booked a date. She is great, asked me what size i wanted to go to and i said about a DD, she said well if you're going to do it then you may aswell have some big ones to get your monies worth!!
She hasn't told my dad, she thought it best not to as doesn't agree with plastic surgery, she said just see if he even notices. I would have liked to have my dads backing as well, but i understand where shes coming from.
Booked in with Dr Lutz, by the way. x

Re: starting to get excited
I think your Mum knows best on this one!!!! How to handle your Dad!!!! Do you think he would be of any beneficial support? probably not notice as your Mum's said... or tell her to talk some sense into you I would leave it till/if it feels right to both you and Mum personally. Could just spoil the excitement for you both.
Sounds like Mum is having a great time being able to support you!!! Lucky you!! Sounds like you will have a really funfilled bonding time. xx

Re: starting to get excited
Thanks hotcaz, i really like Dr Lutz, she seems very nice.
Thanks Mia, you're right, the best person to handle my dad is my mum!! He probably won't notice anyway, i live a good 40 miles away, so only see them about once a month,- a lot can happen in a month!
At least i feel my concious is clear.
