Telling Mum -update!!
So I know I told you girls (in a very old post) that I was never going to tell my mum, she's all organic and would have a heart attack if she heard that I had implants.
WELL I'm getting married in March and so we went dress shopping. The following is a play of what happened:
MUM: "Why can't you get this dress zipped up? have you gained weight?"
ME: "No"
MUM: "Well do you have a padded bra on that you can take off?" (i had been wearing a tank top under the dress)
ME: "No"
MUM: "Then where did those boobs come from??"
ME: [no answer, just look guilty at mum]
MUM: "Oh Alexandra [shakes head]"
and THEN we just go on with dress shopping!!
-next day-
I explained to her that my boobs were slightly tuberous, and no one had explained this to me (even my GP) so I always thought they were just small.
She was SO UNDERSTANDING that I had had a slight deformity and that was why I was so obsessed and stressed over my boobs my whole life. She's so pleased that I'm happy and "fixed" now.
I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SHE'D BE HAPPY FOR ME AND SHE IS
thank you girls for all your support in the meantime though, i love u all!

Re: Telling Mum -update!!
I laughed my head off picturing that scene! Made up for you though. There's some family members of mine I never expected to support me, but like you said, when you say they were deformed (mine were too!) they just sorta go 'ahh' and just get it!x

Re: Telling Mum -update!!
Exactly! I'm so happy! My mum was asking why I"d never told her - I didn't know!! No one told me they were tuberous until I went to the plastic surgeon!
such a relief I don't need this to be between us for the rest of our lives!!

Re: Telling Mum -update!!
Woohoo! Result.. Happy wedding dress shopping!!! I'm not married but I did a wedding photo shoot and had to wear this awful dress and when I was being put in to it all they did was moan at how small I was up top and didn't fill it out enough even with a bra on! I was furious but didn't want to tell them I was having them done, made me come home to my oh and cry my eyes out telling him I never want to be in a wedding dress all eyes on me on what's supposed to be our big day!! Soo big congrats and enjoy :) xx

Aww thats so sweet i actually had tears in my eyes! Im sort of in the samr boat in that i dont really want to tell my mum about it but reckon if she also knew i had a deformity she would understand. Im just sort of lost atm but im so pleased it all worked out for you lovely! X x x x x
Re: Telling Mum -update!!
I can't even begin to tell you girls how YOU ALL got me through the last 2 years from the point when I was still thinking of doing it, through the operation and after. The frankenboobs stage, the dropping and fluffing that ACTUALLY finally happened!!
This is the best support system I could have asked for!! xxxxxxxxxxxx

I truly thought she'd disown me and stop speaking to me forever. They can surprise you, can't they?

Re: Telling Mum -update!!
I've still to tell mine lol every time I sat down and got ready the phone would ring or kids would come running in and I never got round to it. Was she angry that you didn't tell her before? I'm worried more that I've lied than telling them now cause I ended up in hosp after reaction to ga and they don't know about any of it!! We went shopping for Xmas and I tried a jumper on she laughed and said that makes your boobs look bigger I nearly wet myself shutting the curtain ha ha
