Senna tablets, Califig or Senokot?!
Hey girls!
Am going to do a big shop tomorrow for all my post-surgery needs!!
Just wanted to know if any of you took either Senna, Califig or Senokot and if so, did they work well with the bloatedness/constipation?!...
For some reason the bloated feeling is the bit about the recovery I seem to be dreading most and really want to know which is the best way about keeping it at bay.
I read in the 'Survival Tips' topic (which has been so good by the way!!) that one of you took a Senna tablet each night just before going to bed and didn't have any tummy problems at all, so I might follow that advice.
I just don't want to be taking too many drugs unnecessarily...!
Any tips on this would be great...I just keep thinking to myself this time next week I shall have my yayyyy!!!
Thank you!! xxxxxxxx

You could try lactulose syrup, which you can buy from a pharmacy, this is mainly sugar and shouldn't cause stomach cramps which senna can give you ??:)

I think if you get the two...you will be better prepared...the bloating is not good, lots of water and fresh fruit too.....flush the system of meds. Good luck!!

hehe - to be honest for me it was the most physically shocking aspect of it all! My boobies were exactly what I was hoping for, absolutely thrilled from the second I opened my eyes. But my digestive system ... :pale:

aww my surgeon (I love him) said to me: "well you may find the pain killers we've given you make you feel a bit bloated, so make sure you have some bran flakes or something". BRAN FLAKES???? industrial strength bleach more like!!

I took Senna the other day and spent the following day being sick. I've got IBS so that might be why it didn't agree with me.

Me to, I can't wait to go strawberry picking, I'll be there every week when they're ready.
I haven't given any thought to this bloated thing that you've been worrying yourself about. Is it that the painkillers constipate you? If it is I hope its nothing like after I had my baby and was on painkillers for my c-section cut, I was backed up for over a week, really unpleasant.. Sorry, lowering the tone now aren't I?

Re: Senna tablets, Califig or Senokot?!
haha I think it might be rather like that, yes!
I think it's the co-codomol that really causes it, so I'm going to see if I can get away without being given any of that but I think they use it to help you sleep without any pain at night after your op.
If I need to be given it I just want to make sure i'm stocked up on everything I can be to help things inside run along more smoothly....!!

Oh no, I can't go through that again.. I wont even tell you what I ended up doing .
It was co-codomol that I was taking.
I gave my stool softener stuff that the doctor gave me to my friend who had a baby a few weeks after me, I think I'll be asking for it back

Re: Senna tablets, Califig or Senokot?!
Calfig contains senna as well as sucrose (sugar) so be careful dont take all these products together could give you bad cramps also they can take a day or two to work sometimes so be careful they might be working without you feeling there affects :)
