Arnica tablets
Good evening ladies,
I have decided to take arnica to help with the swelling. I was wondering how far in advance I should start taking them?
I have my surgery next Monday :)

Re: Arnica tablets
I was told by my clinic to only start taking arnica on the morning of my surgery. Not really sure why. They also gave me a list of alternative meds to avoid prior to my op. I forgot to take the arnica and luckily only came away with one small bruise. Heard it's great stuff though. x

Re: Arnica tablets
It's the bruising that they help with, not the swelling- I took for 7days before and 7after- I had really bad bruising, but it faded and went very quickly in most places, which I believe was down to taking the arnica. Good luck!!!

Re: Arnica tablets
I don't think it matters too much as they are herbal and not gonna interfere with the meds...take them a few days prior and up to seven days after and you'll be right...I did that for my lipo and it was all great!

Re: Arnica tablets
I was given these on the day of surgery and took then for 3 weeks after surgery, I swear they helped with the pain as well as bruising. I bruise really easily, but didnt bruise at all after the op, and I only took pain killers for the first two days.

Thanks Peggysue...but she is unfortunately dead now...missing after a huge electrical flood storm and never came home ... Poor baby. Yeah I had lipo on my bat wings, they weren't bad but just too big for my frame and I couldn't wear t shirts without my arms being too tight in them! Lol!

Re: Arnica tablets
So my surgeon told me he does not believe arnica makes a difference either way but the nurse at my pre-op said I should take it for a week before and week after.
I asked why I can take arnica (which I think thins the blood) but I can't take garlic for 48hrs beforehand or asprin or Ibruprofen for 2 weeks beforehand - she couldn't tell me - I find this slightly irritating when people tell me to do something but can't explain why.
Anyway, I am planning to take arnica but I believe there are different strengths - what are your thoughts girlies on which to buy?

Re: Arnica tablets
Yeah, poor baby. That's OK pegs coz by the time I got to read what you wrote it had already been changed to 'naughty word' so I just imagined what that word may have been!! Haha And the lipo was very odd...coz you're awake but numb so a bit stingy when they jab you around the edges where you are NOT numb!! Ouchies. It's very rough too...it's weird. Never again, never again man. Dunno why I bothered really, vain I guess!!
