I have to have faith in them, I don't have 4500 pounds to throw away :(
And for that I feel as sorry for you tied up in this whole thing as I do for the PIP ladies hun.
I agree that it isn't moral but I don't know what choice they had....
It was this or carry on paying for pip replacements and then go bust and if that had happened then girls would have still lost out.
They had the choice to do right by the women they wronged.
Yes, it's very possible some women may lose out. But in the grand scheme of things things there would be a heck of a lot more winners than losers to come out of this and even those that don't financially get compensated. At least they will be morally compensated.
When I made the decision to have my BA I looked long and hard at every clinic and ultimately there is no guarentee with any of them.... Any one of the could come up against problems in the future and leave me without my after care package
Sure, any clinic could hit financial problems that could affect you in the future, but not all clinics are immoral. Not all clinics have a history of 1) implanting women with faulty implants. 2) refusing to honour aftercare when evidence came to light that these women did not get what they paid for.
These two points have been known about publicly for over a year now. It's so important to extend research into looking at a clinics history of treating their previous patients. Knowing this after doing research it certainly wouldn't have instilled confidence in me that's for sure.
I've actually expected this next step given their history.
Had I known this would happen maybe my decision would have been different, but as it stands at the moment I have pod for my surgery and I am having to find the silver lining round this scary cloud.
Please don't think I don't understand how awful this just be for pip girls, but as awful as it is I have to care about myself too and with the company moving away from any further claims it gives me piece of mind that for now they are financially stable and my treatment isn't at risk.
I understand your relief that this isn't going to affect YOU 'right now' thats only natural given your circumstances.
I agree that there is nothing stopping them doing this in the future if a similar issue arises, but if I lived life like that I would never go through with it. Every company carries the same risk.
No they don't. Not every company used faulty implants. Some have always had their patients care and well being as priority xx
Re: HMG update - daily mail
I think it's utterly abhorrent what they have done and if I had booked with them I would be cancelling and taking my custom elsewhere x

Re: HMG update - daily mail
This makes me very angry!!! So I, and thousands of other women won't get to see our 4k again that we paid to HMG in good faith only a few years ago. How dare they do this. How on earth can anyone be so stupid as to have surgery with them after the PIP scandal, and even worse after this has happened? Seriously.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I'm not stupid.
I'm trying to make the best of the situation. It's easy to say go and have surgery else where but there are a lot of girls like me who have already paid.
I don't think you all realise how detrimental your posts out to girls in the same postion as me.
Think about what your saying! As a by stander you can make all these sweeping remarks but consider the consequences of your posts.
I have been trying to offer reassurance to girls like myself that they will be ok. Like me there will be thousands of girls who have paid for surgery and now feel nervous. Your comments are just upsetting.
I have to stick with HMG now. I may not feel brilliant about wht they have done to other girls but I have to deal with it or I loose my 4500 pounds. Maybe you could all afford to do that but I can't.

We aren't here to paint pretty pictures Lucy. There is good and bad in this business and today we're reading more of the bad! We aren't going to gloss that up to make anybody feel better lovely. I'm sorry you're upset and if I or any of the girls could rewind back time for you babe, you KNOW we would
Sadly you're unable to get a return now from all you've paid so you just have to take the best the clinic has to offer YOU Lucy. But those able to get out knowing the clinics history then they will have a choice to do what they feel most comfortable with and for those currently researching, then it's good for them to know BOTH sides of what's going on sweetness. Xx

Cookie I realise you are here to be honest, the point I am making is that like I, there will be a lot of girls that had booked and paid robot to this hitting the news. I can't afford to cancel and go elsewhere as I will loose my money, therefore I have to look at the positives.
People coming on here telling us that we are
Stupid to be with HMG and to go elsewhere are not constructive which I know is what you aim to be.
The situation is **naughty word** for a lot of girls but for a lot of others this will offer piece of mind.
I'm finished discussing this now. I'm not here to defend HMG, I was sharing information that may have been useful but I refuse to be called stupid and have unconstructive comments thrown at me because of a decision I made that others don't agree with.

I can appreciate that Lucy.

No-one on this thread or indeed anywhere on this forum have called you or any other woman here stupid. Lets just make that very clear!

Again - no-one has called you stupid.
There will be opinions other than your own regarding this matter Lucy and what might seem 'unconstructive' to you might be very useful information to another, so if you don't like what you think you might read then its probably best you don't read lovely. X

It's comments like this that upset me cookie.
When your in the situation already, this kind of remark isn't called for.

I agree. We're all entitled to an opinion, but calling people stupid isn't called for at all although I don't think the comment was meant personally toward you or anyone here. xx
I understand that especially for the ladies who had PIPS from this clinic this is going to be a very emotive topic, but please be mindful that some women here have made their choice to use this clinic and whatever you might feel, please be respectful to them.
Thanks girls. :flowers: Xx

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Haven't people who booked with the 'old' HMG got grounds to cancel with the 'new' and get a refund? xx

I thought the same Kay , as you are entering into a new contract or the old. Contract you entered into wasn't fulfilled or changed by the company through no fault of your own,

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Agreed 14 day cooling off period for signing any contract which entitles you to a full refund and seeing as you haven't met your surgeon yet I'd be very tempted to take my money and run away from this clinic.
Have you ever watched the dodgy builders programme? So many do this type of thing to get out of fulfilling a contract and taking peoples money and running. Not that I'm saying this company is dodgy because they may sue me. I will remain impartial. What I will say is the dodgy builders on that TV programme do work and use tools, materials etc that are not up to standard, they also use builders that aren't trained or have limited skills. Just some food for thought.
As the the comment earlier I'm sure no one thinks you are stupid. Can you imagine loosing your money and your aftercare and having something in your body which may harm you? The anger you would feel. I'm sure the comment was a remark made out of pure anger and frustration not really aimed at anyone.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Agreed I think the comment wasn't made as a direct attack at calling you anything just I'm sure emotions and passion runs high especially for women that have had bad experiences of a company.
Have you not even seen your surgeon yet? I'm sure there must be a clause as misf says for the cooling off period as you are entering a new contract and to not even have seen your surgeon yet paid the full amount.

I'm also sure that PB DIDN'T aim the comment at you LT-W xx
I mean all the poor women with PIP's from HMG who have now got letters basically saying 'tough Sh*t' must be utterly devastated xx
I would just demand my money back from them saying that, had I been in full possession of the facts about what they were planning to do that I would never have booked with a company that treated it's customers like that any civil court would support you xx after all you didn't pay your money to 'new HMG' did you...?
I'm also wondering how many of the other companies may follow suit....???

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I'm hoping kay that all the other companies will grow some balls and deal with their customers. They wont have nearly as many as HMG as most stopped using PIPs many years before HMG. Plus some of them have already folded. It may be a huge loss for them financially, but the faith it would install in their company would mean increased profits in the long run. Personally I think this will be a huge blow to HMG and I wouldn't see them being around too much longer given that their reputation will be taking a huge blow. They seem to be pinning all their future business on people that have not heard about what they've done. Just look what happened to The News of the World newspaper in 2011, after all that scandal.
Re: HMG update - daily mail
That's what's thought misf1, they would have gained more out of helping their pips customers and rebuilding their reputation x

The News Of The World was simply replaced by The Sunday Sun. Sadly something as simple as a name change will keep the money pouring in. Xx

Re: HMG update - daily mail
yes hun The shadow health secretary is going to look into it, they could shut them down if they find they have broken proffessional codes, or duty of care.
Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham said he would today write to Health
Secretary Jeremy Hunt to ask for the Care Quality Commission and General
Medical Council to look at the issue.
Mr Burnham said: 'It's an example of capitalism at its most irresponsible and unethical. It's a straight-
forward breach of the duty of care that any doctor – public or private – owes to a patient.
'It raises questions about their fitness to practise. All avenues should be
explored, including an appeal to the CQC in terms of their
registration, and to the GMC in terms of whether any practitioners have
broken professional codes. To wash their hands of this is not
acceptable.'
Re: HMG update - daily mail
I think a lot of emotions are running high as they are bound to be! People are being let down by clinics still because they run away from their responsibility to the patient.
I understand some people will still use HMG for surgery as they see no other option, hopefully those people will have no problems xx

It's not a nice situation for anyone to be in with this company, past or present. My thoughts are with every woman that is suffering due to this news.
