Re: HMG update - daily mail
Thanks 5sd.
I do understand your comments but I look at things from every angle.
Tomorrow I will speak to the clinic and let them know I want new terms and conditions before my op and the administrator is emailing me to confirm what I was told on the phone.
Unfortunately the Internet allows us to see information we shouldn't.
This happens all the time.....

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Hey Lucy,
My op is next saturday (24th) so this has come at a pretty bad time for me! I have Dr Frati.
I have not been worried about anything so far...then I read this and nearly died! I may give them a call tomorrow and just see if there is anything that I can do. If you do manage to get your T's and C's changed or a new contract, will you let me know please, so I can try and do the same? That would be super helpful.
When are you due for your op? Yes I agree, I think we need to stay positive about this together! x

Hey,
Got it! Thanks so much! Please do keep me updated! I am just trying to get my brain around what to do...if anything! This is not on the list of things that I thought that I would have to consider when getting a BA!
Thanks love. x

I would say that it's fortunate the Internet allows us to see stuff we shouldn't so we can act and protect ourself. I agree with 5stonedown get calling and make sure your own back is covered don't worry that anyone else says its ok make the call and get new terms for your own contract. Saying nothing will happen after what happened with pips when everyone was left high and dry is ignorant. I'd be worried sick and on the phone now if it was me. Good luck to you all

Re: HMG update - daily mail
hi All,
For those of you who are concerned about HMG i thought i would update you on what i have found out.
HMG were previously owned by 'Harley medical company' they have now been bought out by a company called Aesthetic and cosmetic surgery ltd.
They have a new reg number and a new set of t's and c's which i have had sent to me by my clinic.
Apparently all exisiting after care packages remain the same and any suregy booked in now will continue. No clinics are closing and there will be no change to the service.
Any girl in a similar position to me should maybe do the same as me and contact their clinic and request new t's and c's.
I feel far better knowing all of my paper work is now under the correct trading name and reg number.
I hope this helps :)

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Thank you Lucy for keeping everyone calm. I would not be so optamistic as this has happened quite a few times with the smaller companies and of course with surgicare. Sometimes the internet is useful I think it is good to know things no matter how good or bad they are. PIPs for instance was brilliant that the word could get out. However people tried to tell them before it was offically announced and no one would listen. There was always someone telling people no they're fine. When they weren't. It was usually people that worked for the clinic. Big business is a cut throat thing and unfortunately everybody lies. Lets hope no one does this time.
Re: HMG update - daily mail
I would take my money and run as far away as possible from HMG. They lie. You only have to look at the PIP scandal and how badly the ladies (including me) were treated.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I'm sure everyone appreciates your input Lucy :flowers:
I can only echo what misf1 has said about no-one listening when the PIPs rumours were first started a long time before it hit the headlines! So I would urge anyone involved not to panic over this but to very much listen now! Call your clinic and do not settle for anything less than having it 'in writing' that the new changes will not affect any up and coming surgery you're about to have or any aftercare package you have with them and if there are any changes to the contract you signed, ask what they are and how this affects YOU. Don't settle for just being told there are no changes. Make sure you get in writing.
Don't settle on here-say! Listen to no-one and get answers from no-one but TMG. Xx

HMG update - daily mail
Hey ladies,
For those interested in the hMG situation it's hot the news today-
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Whilst I feel for those girls who are now not covered by HMG it gives the girls booked in for ops on the future some piece of mind that the company won't be folding.

Does it? This clinic has gone to great lengths to avoid possible legal action from women they implanted with faulty implants. I don't see any positive in that at all. If they can do this to PIP women what possible lengths could they go to in the future if they deemed necessary to avoid anything that may affect you? Do you still have 100% faith in this clinic after this?
Re: HMG update - daily mail
I can't believe it's even legal/possible to do what they have done so easily. X

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Hey cookie,
I have to have faith in them, I don't have 4500 pounds to throw away :(
I agree that it isn't moral but I don't know what choice they had....
It was this or carry on paying for pip replacements and then go bust and if that had happened then girls would have still lost out.
I don't support any business doing what they have done but unfortunately ot happens all the time in every industry.
When I made the decision to have my BA I looked long and hard at every clinic and ultimately there is no guarentee with any of them.... Any one of the could come up against problems in the future and leave me without my after care package, HMG was recommended to me by my cousin and having been around for so long I felt like they were the right choice.
Had I known this would happen maybe my decision would have been different, but as it stands at the moment I have pod for my surgery and I am having to find the silver lining round this scary cloud.
Please don't think I don't understand how awful this just be for pip girls, but as awful as it is I have to care about myself too and with the company moving away from any further claims it gives me piece of mind that for now they are financially stable and my treatment isn't at risk.
I agree that there is nothing stopping them doing this in the future if a similar issue arises, but if I lived life like that I would never go through with it. Every company carries the same risk.
These companies are businesses, and whilst they offer surgical treatment, they are not the nhs and they are in it to make money, it's a harsh reality, but their business is out vanity.
If they aren't making money they are going to find away to turn things round and that is what they have done.
I hope you understand my side of this.... ?
