HMG - Administration - rumour
Hi All
I have heard from a reliable source that they may be going into administration! Am very worried. Apparently this is so they don't have to deal with current claims e.g. PIP's and people claiming for unsuccessful surgery. Anyone else heard this rumour? I am worried.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I have not heard any rumours, but it is a hard time for companies dealing with the PIP scandal.
Try not to worry to much, it may just be a rumour.... Xx

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I havnt heard Amy rumours, but that's all they are sometimes is just that rumours. They're not the only company and clinic dealing the pip scandal so if they were I'm sure it wouldn't be because they want to get outed dealing with it.
Can I ask who the reliable source is?

Could be a rumor started by a rival clinic to put people off. I've not heard the rumors but we'll find out quite quickly if it is true

Worried!!!
I am due to have my op with them on the 24th November! I sincerely hope this is not true! I am pretty sure that someone would have let me know...it would be a legal obligation for them to let their customers know if they were in administration.

I too have heard this today, Leonard something is the administrator. Hope it doesn't affect anyone who has already booked and paid, they will surely have to give refunds of deposits won't they? X

I have heard this too. So silly of me to go with them for my first op, I don't know why anyone would go with them now knowing how badly they've treated the PIP's ladies. x

Playboy probably because of their competitive prices but then you get what you pay for. Such a shame for all those women who are waiting for surgery with them. I wonder if the ones who are booked & paid will get their ops? If your with HMG get on the phone and don't come off without answers and something in writing!xo

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I'd rather pay more and go to a company that treats their patients well tbh :) HMG will lie probably, that's what they did throughout the PIP scandal. x

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I have just checked and they are in receivership.
Spoke to HMG and the woman said she knew nothing about it.
My BA is on 22nd December.... Don't know what to do.
Due to see my surgeon on Monday.... Do you think he would do it privately?

Not neccessarily. When a company goes into administration the administraters look at the people the company are in debt to (which would include anyone who has paid and hasnt had their op) and look at the company assets. The most important debters get paid with the money from the assets which includes the landlords of the buildings they rent, suppliers staff wages and unfortunately customers come last.

Receivership is the step before bankruptcy. If you can get your money back get it NOW! Once the bankruptcy has gone though the debt is written off and you will lose your money!!

UPDATE-
I have just spoken to the administrators dealing with HMG.
They are not ceasing. Part of the group has been sold but the company will continue as HMG and has no plans to fold.
All surgery and after care packages will continue as agreed and they are still running as normal.
Part of the arrangement of the sale was to ensure all surgery booked under existing reg number is carried out with the full after care package!
Feel so much better!

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I got to be honest I would take my money and run for the hills! I dealt with a company that did this to me 7 years ago when I had a lot of work done to my house. I was told all the work would be completed and that the company was still traded etc... it went bad and I lost £30k!!! Basically they put terms on the company and if they break those terms thats it the company is gone. I had to declare bankruptcy myself as I lost everything and it was awful.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Including me!!! :)
The administrator can't lie so feel so much better.
It's a restructure not a closure and any one with existing after care will still be covered too
That's the problem with the Internet.... You see the word administration and immediately believe the worst!!

Re: HMG update - daily mail
HMG are such a big company that they won't bankrupt unless they need to. My OH has access to companies house and HMG as a company are financially stable.
Maybe if I was starting out I would reconsider but I have been really pleased with the group and their service and having spoken to the administrator I feel much better.

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Problem is its a self fullfilling prophecy as so many people will cancel on the back of this out of fear, the company may lose so much money they cannot keep to their 'terms' and then have to fold. Its not a good position for any company to be in and I really wouldnt want to be stuck in the middle (Been there done that learned the VERY hard way!)

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Lets be honest though..... A company as bug as HMG would be all over the news if something seriously bad was happening. Look at comet.... Everyone knows.
You google this and there is nothing. It's been going on for a while.
If it was bad bad news everyone would know

Re: HMG update - daily mail
Experience tells me otherwise but its your money and its up to you. I used to work for the official receiver and I have been personally bankrupt and you'd be surprised what goes on under the radar!! The company that screwed me over was a national company and there was nothing in the paper until it was too late despite being 'sold' 18 months previous when they first had problems. Its not news until its over! Comet were in trouble when I worked at the official receiver 6 years ago!

Lucy kudos on your research skills!
I have been reading this feed with bated breath. I would be devastated if my op got cancelled or I lost my money! So you reckon that ladies like us are safe? This is some scary s**t!

Re: HMG update - daily mail
I think we will be fine.
The only advice I would give is to request a new set of terms and conditions with the new reg number on.
I am comfortable with what the administrator said. 10-15 years ago we wouldn't have ever known anything had changed.... This is where the Internet is troublesome.
They are a large company and they have had to restructure but they have no intention of folding. They are profitable, and long standing.
When is your surgery and with which surgeon?
Lets gets excited again together :)
