Exposure-NHS/private practice
Did anyone watch this on itv last night, I recorded it and watching it now. I am actually disgusted! This poor woman was having a traumatic labour, meconium in her waters, and the emergency button was pushed so the consultant came in, they realised she was giving birth breech and the babies heart rate kept dropping. And the consultant left her without a reason, with someone unqualified to deliver a complicated delivery. Later on the baby got stuck coming out and they pulled her out she had to be taken to intensive care and 5 days later the baby died because of lack of oxygen at birth. Basically the consultant SHOULD have given her a c section but left her for a private (paying) woman having an ELECTIVE c section. The poor woman...it's so wrong.. The hospital have accepted liability. They sent an undercover reporter in since and the woman was told for paying £5000 + £7000 for consultant fees they were promised that the consultant would be with them no matter what... Even if he is dealing with NHS patient in the same ward.. Money talks i suppose... Excuse the essay Xx

That's so tragic... A new life so wrongly taken when she could have been snuggling in her mothers arms
Any private surgery should be in their own time. If a procedure takes up a little more time than expected because of complications then their private patient will just have to wait and understand the nature of their job might take them away from where they need to be sometimes. Xx

I know. All because of this consultant with an awful greed for money that found his howevermany thousand pounds more important than a babies life. I hope he suffers that decision for the rest of his life. The poor midwife that was left with the woman cried to her when the baby was in intensive care apologising that she didn't deliver her baby safely too xx

Awww you can just imagine how responsible they must have felt cant you when the responsibility should be all on the consultants shoulders. Xx

Aw God that's horrible. Absolutely disgusting the way some people put £££ before life. I thought the want to help people would be the main reason for going into a medical profession?

You can't put a price on life, may that consultant live with the guilt for the rest their lives.
