Drinking before BA... Empty Drinking before BA...

Post by Tors 5th November 2012, 8:58 am

Hi all,

I've done some browsing of old posts and think it will be a no, but thought I'd ask for your opinions!

My BA is next Wednesday, and on the Monday (2 days before) I have my final exam for my masters... I'm going out for a meal to celebrate, and would really like a cocktail...only 1! But could this have any effect on my BA?

My PS hasn't mentioned alcohol at all, and I rarely drink, but wasn't sure if having one drink would matter...

Thanks in advance

xx

think its 48hrs but 1cocktail would be fine id say, my BA was on a tuesday and i was out at a party on the saturday before, i wasint drunk but had had a few, i think he idea is alcohol generally comprimises your immune system so can affect your recovery plus can mess about with your blood pressures ect, xx

I would think the same, 1 drink shouldn't matter? As long as it doesn't lead to more Drinking before BA... 184153

Personally I wouldn't ! Especially if your BA is an early one. It Wont be 48 hours will it? I know I sound a killjoy ! But is it worth it just one??

The reason you're told to avoid having alcohol in your system is because it acts as a blood thinner, so having alcohol in your system could result in bleeding in theatre more than normal, or resulting in you having a bleed afterwards...

With just 2 days till your surgery date I'd personally not have the drink hun. I just don't think that one drink is worth the risk involved.

I'm sure you'll still have a good time though and you can celebrate a couple of weeks after your surgery with a good few cocktails then if you want to! Xx
