Consultation blues
Ok, I had my consultation with a surgeon today and it was such a let down from start to finish!! Everyone seemed so disorganised, someone with an appointment after mine went in before me (even though we were all seeing the same people), the surgeon rushed me through and seemed bored and completely uninterested in anything I had to say, he even yawned half way through!!
I just feel so let down xxx

Re: Consultation blues
Awww sorry to hear that hunny. Unfourtanatlty just because a surgeon works for one girl doesn't nescarilly mean hell work for another. I think you defiantly have to feel comfatable, connected and of course happy with your surgeon.
As for someone being seen before you if their appointment was after yours I wouldn't have been happy either and would have expressed my annoyance (in a nice way!) to the receptionist.
Don't be out off though sweetie , lok foward to the next one and think it can't be as bad as the last!
Who else are you seeing? Xx

Re: Consultation blues
Yeah I know some people can like someone and others don't. I would def want to feel comfortable with the surgeon and I didn't. He just seemed to want me out the door.
The receptionist was hardly at her desk and seemed to be running around like a headless chicken, it all seemed very unorganised. I just felt uncomfortable there!
I won't be put off, I haven't got anything else booked yet so will do a bit more research and go from there. I don't think anything could be worse lol xxxx

I'm glad this bad experience hasn't put you off hun
You WILL find the right one sweetness but as you say, it may take a little work your side in research first before you find them. Xx

5stonedown that is a really good way of looking at it, hadn't even thought of it like that  xx
I can't let it put me off, I don't want PIPs for longer than I have to
I will start stage 2 research tomorrow and hopefully get somewhere with that. Thank you for the encouraging words xxx

Re: Consultation blues
Oh no, what a horror story on the plus side 5stonedown is right, it's one off the list, and better you saw that side to the surgeon in the consultation than have him behave that way in your surgery - rushing it with a yawn!! I'm sure you'll find the right, professional (!) one for you xx

Re: Consultation blues
Ah babe, at least now you've met one that you weren't keen on, it'll make it easier to know when you find "the one" and make you feel a lot more comfortable about your final decision.
I had exactly the same thing happen to me and it kind of bursts your bubble for a bit. I waited over an hour to be seen and was then in and out in 10 min because he was running so late. I didnt get to ask many questions or try the implants on and he hardly said a word. Once I saw 2 other surgeons, it made me appreciate them more and realise how much the first guy definitely wasnt for me.
Good luck with your search hun. Dr Right could be just round the corner xxx

Re: Consultation blues
I think meeting this surgeon has definitely made it clear what I don't want, so maybe it will make it easier to recognise "the one" when I meet them! I did sit and think as he yawned, I don't want someone operating on me yawning all the way through!
This sounds exactly how my consultation went! I was also told after I had seen the surgeon and went back to see the PCC that he had turned up an hour late, but that's not my fault, he should still spend the time with me!
Thank you, I'm hoping I find the right surgeon soon, it's just not as easier as I thought! Xxx

Re: Consultation blues
The first guy I saw at MYA rushed me in glanced at me told me to "get my top off" literally spent 2 mins looking at me, didnt measure a thing then sat behind a desk writing on a piece of paper while he lecturer me on what he would do for me and never looked up at me once. I dont think he made eye contact with me at all! He wasnt interested in listening what I wanted he basically said "this is what I do and thats what you get and if you want something else go somewhere else!"

Re: Consultation blues
Oh my god, that's so bad!! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has experienced a lowsy consultation. Also that you have had similar experiences and yet now have the fab boobs you wanted that surgeon to say he could give you (well from what I can see in your avi you do anyway)! It definitely gives me back my hope!! Xx

Re: Consultation blues
Definately got what I wanted from a surgeon who listened to me, put me at ease and generally made me feel that she was interested in what I wanted and she wanted to improve my life rather than just run with my money!

Re: Consultation blues
Many of us have had a bad consultation Cat, including myself lovely... Having experienced the bad, I think it then gives you a good shake to look for better for yourself next time. To put the effort in yourself to get what you want doesn't it babe. I know this was the case for me.
I had a consultation that left me feeling dirty! I was manhandled and made to feel like nothing more than a piece of meat. I'm telling ya Cat, I was outta there as fast as my feet could carry me, in tears though I might add. But it hardened me seeing the darker side and the possibilities of what could have happened to me had I been a naive woman, excited to have my boobs done and signing on the dotted line with no thought for what happens beyond that day....
It's not a pleasant experience seeing a bad surgeon, but you can turn it into a positive lovely, doing your homework and making sure that doesn't happen to you again xx

Re: Consultation blues
Yes cookie, I definitely agree with u, it had given me a good shake 2 maybe see what it is that I need to be looking for rather than what I think I should be looking for! It has clarified what are the important qualities in a surgeon, as well as his/her qualification!
Today I am looking at it as a good experience rather than a complete and utter flop! And it's thanks to all you lovely ladies that I can do this and move forward with my search for the right surgeon for me  xxx

Re: Consultation blues
Hey Cat,
I'm having my BA with James Mcdiarmid one week from now and I think he is fab - I've seen he is a surgeon with MyBreast but if you are interested he has his own clinic you can go to directly. Don't know what the pro's and con's are for using a middle man, but just letting you know :)
Good luck anyway xx
