Wish Id realised...
Came home this morning feeling ok, but after taking the co dydramol I feel so sick I want to lie down and die.. :( Didnt realise that was what was making me sick first day, thought it was something stronger than that.
Def switching back to plain paracetemol asap, but how long will this be in my system for? I look about 7 months pregnant, completely constipated and desperate to throw up even though Ive barely eaten anything... :( :( This is not an easy recovery at all.

Aww hunny, it's a horrible feeling especially after what you've been through ESP if you had another ga so soon after the first one.
Yes codeine based painkillers don't agree with me either make me feel r. Sick.
Hopefully once them and the ga is out of your system you will start to feel better.
Lots of water to flush it out though hunny x

Hello Elizabeth Sok,
I am sorry you're feeling so ill
I also had problem with medication, I was on Tramadol but that was making me so dizzy I almost fainted every time i tried to get up so they gave me something with codein which made me very constipated but I took senna tablets after five days of being constipated but everything went back to normal after a week.
Hope you feel better soon.

You really are going to be OK Elizabeth
The codiene does make a lot of us sick... From the amount we hear here not getting along with it I do often wonder why they give it 'cos for many of us the sickness it causes counteracts the benefits of the drug
Once stopping that you start feeling more like yourself in a day or two and as soon as you feel able do get yourself up and moving around.
Being mobile really is best for your recovery hun... In a couple of days, getting yourself out for a nice walk in the fresh air will do you the world of good. Eating healthily and drinking lots will help too hun.
After a week it's generally the turning point for most, so stay positive sweetie, you will get there! Xx

Urgh I will never forget the awful headache and vomiting I had from the codeine. Hopefully as it leaves your system you will start to feel better. I tool senna for the constipation and it really helped x

codiene
Hiya sorry to hear your feeling awfull at the moment I had the same problem after taking codiene based painkilllers, have a lie down and try to have a sleep until the sickness feeling passes (I was actually sick rather than just feeling sick & felt alot better once I had vomited).
Now you know whats causing the sickness and avoid it you should start feeling much better soon ask your gp for something gentle to relieve your constipation.
Sending you hugs x

Re: Wish Id realised...
They should stop giving us codine, fortunately they didn't make me sick but did nothing to help my pain, and I'm pleased to say I am now going to the loo so my Buddha belly is on its way down!!!
It is a huge operation for our little bodies and I think the recovery is underestimated and understated by care coordinators, if it wasn't for all my posts and you ladies explaining these things are normal in recovery process, I would think my recovery was abnormal. Was told by one of my nurses she was back to work after day two! Really???!!!
If it wasn't for the fact I was loving my new additions I would be seriously telling myself off for putting myself through this!!!
Xx

Re: Wish Id realised...
Thank u so much everyone! Even feeling better now this evening, now that codeine is out of my system. Def sticking to paracetamol from here out. Even slightly worse pain is better than all that sickness. Had something to eat this eve, and still feeling strong.
They gave me some oramorph in case I need... any experiences wit that? It didnt make me feel ill in the hospital... worried to take it, but would like a good restful nights sleep!

I use oramorph daily babe. It's nothing at all like the codeine and as long as you don't over do it it shouldn't make you feel sick hun. It does however make you constipated so I'd advice you also take a couple of senna at night whilst you're taking it hun. Xx

I've had 2 ga's before and that's not happened..... Do you think it's best not to look in the mirror for a couple of days post op? I'm worried I'm going to look like a monster after some of these posts :( xxx

Re: Wish Id realised...
Ahh hun codeine's horrible isn't it! Glad you're feeling better though. last thing you need while you're recovering is sickness. the last 2 times i had codeine i had breathing problems and passed out so when they ask if i have any allergies now i say codeine so i don't have to take it at all. my BA is tmor and they said they'll give me something else so we'll see what they give me.
Congrats on your new additions! Xx
