Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
What did you choose and what size and why? What size were you pre op and afterwards?
Got the options of 400, 420, 445....currently 32b wanting to look a large D/DD
Thanks in advance ladies :)

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
I was given both options too. After originally thinking unders would be better due to lower risk of capsular contracture I eventually opted for overs as I am quite active and when you use your chest muscles with unders, the implant is more likely to move with your muscle rather than your breast. My biggest priority was for them to look completely natural, so weighing things up that's the decision I went for.
There are plusses and minuses to both options and that's not to say that unders don't look natural, they absolutely do, I was just told that there's just a blink or you'll miss it chance that people might notice when you're doing exercise.
I was an empty 32C, had 300cc, I haven't been measured but 32DD sports bras are tight
Best of luck hun xx

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
I had overs when I had my first surgery Lauren. When I needed to have a re-op I was told by my surgeon that he would prefer to go under the muscle for my second surgery. I questioned this and asked why I'd had overs for my first surgery if unders would be best for me and was told I could have either.
I knew I had good breast tissue in my favour so coverage wouldn't be a problem. In reducing my implant size I also knew that being able to accommodate a large implant also wasn't a problem for me. I had two very long indepth discussions about this on the both times I sat and spoke with my surgeon. I was assured that choosing to again go over the muscle wasn't a problem, it would have just been his preference but I would in no way increase my risk of complication in choosing to go over the muscle again and this was written in my notes that my surgeon was in agreement that there would be no higher risk of complication from my choosing.
It's a lot to take in isn't it lovely, especially if like yourself you're told you can have both, so the choice is thrown back at you and any problems after that, you'd be responsible for because you chose for yourself.
I'd personally arrange a more indepth talk with your surgeon hun and ask 'him' what the pro's and cons are for having either placement and I'd personally opt for the one that had the least cons and get your surgeon to make the decision for you, throwing it back at him... "so, do YOU think this is the right placement for me?" making sure he confirms and get him to write this in your notes, so should you have a complication afterwards, the responsibility is then back on your surgeon hun and not on you.

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
I was sort of offered both...on the one hand my surgeon would have preferred unders for the fact that I have no upper chest fat and no upper pole. On the other hand I have an athletic build and strong pec muscles, so at higher risk of noticeable muscle distortion. We decided in my case to go with overs, the potential distortion problem far outweighed the other complications in my case. I also didn't want to have to change how I excercise and avoid exercise that specifically isolate the chest muscles, and didn't want to feel them move when I flex.
There was a compromise though, my surgeon did not want to give me big implants if I went with overs. I had specifically asked for a natural look, and in my case it would be more likely to see the outline of the implants and increased chance of visible rippling if I had big implants placed over the muscle. So my surgeon recommended 210cc, but also ordered 240cc after I asked him if these were ok too. He ordered both, and I trusted him to make the right decision during the surgery. I woke up with 240cc. To be honest, it wasn't really a compromise for me since I only wanted to go up a cup size or two, so when he told me he would only give me about 210cc if I went with overs I was more than happy.
I was a saggy 32c before my op (I had an uplift too), and I'm now a perky 32dd, but wear snug 32d sports bras which I now only wear when I'm exercising.
If there were a perfect placement we'd all have the same one, lol. I'd say make sure you discuss this more in depth with your surgeon so you can weigh out the pros and cons. That way you'll have a better idea which is the best option for you. xxx

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
In my case im having mr singh and he offered me the larger implants over as opposed to smaller under, which is why its hard as I know sometimes girls lose some size with unders anyway and im worried I may be dissapointed as I want to look a DD, I may just order the three sizes im stuck on and ask him to decide what he thinks is best for what look I want to achieve even if its on the day, its hard as I think ive gotten caught up in it and because implants looks so so different on different girls its made it so hard to choose. I must say I dont do any exercise tbh so thats not an issue really.

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
It's easier to fit a bigger implant over the muscles than under since the muscles tend to be tight, so you may not be able to fit as much, this is why your surgeon suggested this way around. It's not that I couldn't fit bigger, my body and frame could fit more, but the results wouldn't have been desirable for me.
Mr. Singh has a reputation for being very generous with sizing. My surgeon on the other hand tends to be more conservative with sizing. From what I've seen, you'll acheive the look you want and perhaps more with the sizes he has recommended. Unders may look smaller at first, but the muscles do loosen eventually, they just tend to need more time than overs to fluff.
Have you showed him pictures? This is really helpful, and will take some of the guesswork out, your surgeon will have a better idea of what you'd like. Showing my surgeon pictures confirmed which profile would be best for me. As I said, I let my surgeon decide which size to go with during my op, I figured if I trusted him to perform surgery on me I'd trust him to choose the right size xxx

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
Yes I did take them and he said it looked around 470cc as to why he offered me the size I guess :) but I'm thinking of going a little less as I was told between 400-450 cc would achieve the look I'm after and maybe opting for unders as I would like a semi natural look, quite large but still a natural slope :) I'm going to see him again so I'm going to show some more piccies and go through what's best for me long term and less risks I think x

You can achieve a nice natural slope from either unders or overs hun, but this is dependant on the placement being the right one for you. For example if you choose a large implant with little breast tissue/body fat, there is a chance the implant might be visible and without the natural slope. So discussing the pros and cons of each placement as I mentioned in my earier post would be a really good thing to do lovely to help you decide.

I really think you're making the right decision Lauren. This is such a big deal isn't it and you really want to try and get it right first time around dont you. Hope all goes well babe and please keep us updated on how things go wont you xx
Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
In my consultations it was suggested to me that overs would be best for me, I thought this was strange as I only had a 32A and had already resigned myself to the fact that I had very little breast tissue and would have to have unders. And I would have had unders if I had needed to. But I had enough breast tissue to cover the implant and both me and my surgeon agreed it would give me the natural feel and look I wanted.
Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
Yours look fab hun, can you feel the implant or have any rippling at all, these are my major concerns and CC xx

No I don't have rippling and I can't really feel the implant. My boyfriend loves them and he can't feel anything either.
Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
What needs to be taken into consideration Lauren is that although misf1 had a smaller cup size than yourself, she did have enough breast tissue to cover the implant and this is what is very important when considering if 'overs' would be right for you.
I know it sounds really strange doesn't it that someone smaller than you might result very different to yourself but it's all down to our own anatomy which is unique to ourselves.
For example you may have more/less body fat than a woman with exaclt the same stats as yourself, you may have more/less breast tissue than the same person, your rib cage may be wider/narrower, you breasts may naturally fall differently, you may have a wider/narrower cleavage, the list of factors just go on and on that will determine your placement and the volume required to achieve the look you're hoping to achieve.
This is why it's best to go back and talk to your surgeon lovely. They are able to 'see' you and take in all of your measurements when deciding these things to get the best for yourself. xx

Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
Hi Lauren.
I was given the choice of under or overs at my first consultation. But I went back to see my PS again to discuss this as I thought 'you're the expert - you should be the one telling me what I should have'. He then made the decision and advised me to have unders.
To be honest, I think it is pretty odd that PS can say 'it's your choice' when they are the experts.

I agree with you Meemoo I think it's wrong for a surgeon to put that kind of responsibility onto their patient when it could result in upping the risks involved in a medical procedure causing the patient to have further surgery as well as having to pay out more money to repair the damage which they can choose to take no responsibility for because they didn't choose the placement.
We pay good money for their expert opinion so everything we're unsure about should be questions until the surgeon either helps you come to a decison that they are in full agreement with or they make the decison for you holding themselves responsible for their own work. xx
Re: Any girls given both options of overs and unders?
Yeah i agree with you cookie, i dont know whats going to be best for me im not a surgeon haha! When i have my pre op and see him again im going to ask which he would personally advise and why :) and size wise what he thinks would achieve the D/DD look im after and no larger! I do not want to look out of proportion, I must say on another forum i was told by surgeons that 400-450 would still look relatively natural on someone of my height so that did put my mind at ease :) x
