incisions been to see nurse

Just a quick one I've just been to see the nurse my incisions are amazing I can barely see them she said they won't scar and in a few weeks they will be microscopic and paul clarke is known for his scars being like this but she didn't put anything back on them like steri strips or anything she told me I can shower, and she told me to start massaging!! Breast not scars I thought were not supposed 2 massage textured. Why hasn't she gave me any steri strips or put anything on over them? Xx

I didn't have anything on my scars either. You probably don't need them. Scars do heal very well I can barely see mine too it's great. The instructions they give you are for your personal healing, as we are all different I would follow all advice they give you to aid your healing.

Argh I just rang her she said I've got 2 sleep on my back till I see my surgeon on... Wait for it SEPTEMBER 9th because he needs to check they are in there pockets omg I feel like crying xx

Misf1 I don't know whether my back will survive that long it aches so much lying on it even the nurse said that is a long wait, what is the usual amount of time until you see you ps? Because I might ring my patient coordinator and see if she can get me in 2 c him any earlier because someone on the desk made this appt 4 me not her and she got me in the next day 2 see him last time xx

Oh my god. Is that just on ur back or upright aswell?? I cant handle that lol. When i was in hospital though the nurse told me it would only be for about 2 weeks. Will have to wait n see what my nurse says to me when i go next week. Slept with my heat bag under my back last night. Duno if it was a good idea or not but it was hurtin too much not to. Argh!!!!! Lol xx

I'm totally confused about that appointment with the nurse I don't feel like I know anything I havnt even got another appointment there until I see my surgeon so how will someone tell me I don't need to wear my bra anymore or when to massage my scars, mr clarke promised me I would be able to stop wearing sports bras at 6 weeks when I spoke 2 him after my op so they better not say wait till u see him or I will be majorly **naughty word** off and I'm not doing it, I want his number stuff the nurses and everyone, in a mood now everything going wrong today xx

Have u rang them to see if u can get an earlier appointment with him because i think it is him that has to give u the all clear for wearing underwired bras. If theyre making u go til the 9th sept then thats nearly 9 weeks!! Surely thats wrong?? Xx

You generally see your surgeon at around 6 weeks post-op hun, but Mr Clarke does seem to be particularly popular at the moment so this maybe why your appointment was pushed back.

I'd call and see if you can get an appointment for around your 6 week post-op marker and if you can't, maybe request a consultation with the clinic nurse at 6 weeks post-op and maybe she can give you the all clear then. xxx

Im going to ring my patient coordinator on monday when I'm feeling more myself lol and ask her if I could have an appointment closer to 6 weeks than 9 weeks at the end of the day I've paid enough money for this if you don't ask you don't get lol xx

Hi sorry to butt in, but I had first check with the nurse 10 days after, and when he took off my strap, saw that I was healing well, didnt put anything on my scars, was just told to change sports bra every day and use antibacterial wipes twice a day, he also said that i could now sleep on my side.

You saying about whether they are in the pockets yet? I do feel paranoid about that. Although still finding it difficult to sleep properly.

Im not sure, possibly because there is nothing on the scar now to protect it, so to keep it clean, putting on a new clean sports bra everyday will protect it? bit of a pain because I only have 2, so have to keep washing them!! will be buying more this weekend xx

I don't go 2 a clinic I go to the place where I had the op but instead of going up the stairs I go through the double doors on the left and the patient coordinators, surgeons and nurses are through there.

That is why she said I couldn't sleep on my side because of the pockets but I also think they are being to cautious because alice was told she had 2 wear her sports bra until she saw mr clarke 3 months post op but I said 2 mr clarke after my op os the nurse going to tell me 2 wait till I see you at 3 months before I can take my sports bra off because I've got a holiday and he said I would never need my bra on for that long and kind of rolled his eyes at the nurses as if to say they just say that to be on the safe side but if they do say that ignore the basically, so I'm thinking it may be the same with this now. I want to speak 2 mr clarke I know it might seem like a big deal 2 make about sleeping on my back but it is causing me pain I just want to be able 2 stop as soon as I possibly can and not to have 2 wait longer than I need to I can't imagine what the pain will be like in 9 weeks xx

Ahh yeah i know where abouts u mean. Yeah i would just ring on mon and double check with him, they should have a contact number or email address for u to contact him. Last thing u need is to be worrying about not sleepin and back ache. Hopefully ule get it sorted after the weekend xxx

Do you think they would give me a way of contacting him personally? I don't think they would but if I could say to my pcc if she can't fit me with him, could she grab a moment with him and see if he really needs to see me before confirming I can sleep on my side and explain 2 her what he said to me about the sports bras thing and then atleast I know that he really does have to see me because I don't believe he does after what he said after my op xx

U can always ask and then mention it to ur pcc. They probably wont but if u stress enough how much pain its causing u then they might be inclined to bump u up or at the very least contact him for u like u say. Xx

Where do you see mr clarke does he come to a clinic near you? That's a good thing about having someone going through the same as you at the same time you can get a second opinion from another their nurse xx

Haha i have to go to the nottingham clinic, bout an hr away. Dont live anywhere nearer. Yeah at least someone else is going through the same. Lol xx
