Re: First Transform consultation?
Hi rocky, I haven't had my surgery yet but I have had three consultations, two of them with transform. When you go you will fill out a medical form then take it into the consultant. All my consultants did different things, but basically they should go through the types of implants/ prices/ a quick lowdown on complications that can occur and book you in to see the surgeon. They don't do a lot really, though I knew a lot of what they said so probably didn't ask a lot of questions etc.
They won't look at your breasts or anything, it's the surgeon that will give the proper consultation.
Good luck for Tuesday x

Re: First Transform consultation?
Your patient care co-ordinator will have no medical training at all Rocky, they are basically there to sell you a product and keep you sweet throughout your BA experience
You'll be asked what you're looking for from your surgery and be given some prices, but these will only be guidelines, nothing is definate until you see your surgeon along with all the things Lian mentioned above. Be wary of being told there are few surgery slots for the surgeon you want, or any offers that might be on now to tempt you into booking. Whatever you do NEVER book at these consultations, or just after seeing your surgeon. Of excitement can blind your abilty to think straight lol, been there, done that, got the T-Shirt and payed a heavy price for it, so do always come away and give yourself time to think things through carefully before signing anything.
In the meantime babe, you could always call Transform tomorrow and request a list of the surgeons working on your area so you can do a bit of research before going and then YOU can pick your own surgeon rather than the PCC choosing the next available surgery slot and surgeon for you. xxx

Re: First Transform consultation?
Lian's covered it really! Not meaning to put a downer on it at all but I didn't find transforms consultation too helpful. It's mostly forms and questions - if you've done your research the pcc probably won't say anything you haven't heard before.
When I went to Transform in Birmingham I filled out a form then met the pcc. She went through the procedure and the different types of implants, spent a LOT of time going through pricing (my biggest problem with transform) and then let me have a feel of an implant and a look at some before and after photos.
So nothing too scary hun!!

Re: First Transform consultation?
Great to hear from you all, thank you, pretty much what i had expected its just a pain having to get an hour and a half long train there and back and leave work early for it but i want to get a feel for the place aswell as info!
I have done a bit of research into the surgeons at transform belfast and heard great things from 1 and a few mixed reviews about the other :S
But at least it gets the ball rolling to see a surgeon which is much more important to me!
thanks again ladies! :)

Re: First Transform consultation?
Cookie nailed it on the head, while your PCC won't have any medial training it does give you a good feel for the place/attitudes of the staff etc. Save all your medical questions for your surgeon, he's the one who's answers count for something.
Enjoy the experience hun, it will soon be your time for boobies so make the most of all these little things that get you there! x

Re: First Transform consultation?
If there's a surgeon you want to see make sure you see him/her, don't be put off if the consultant isn't forthcoming. This is how I came to see two pcs at transform. I went to Liverpool clinic knowing I wanted to see a particular surgeon. When I told the pc she said it would be 2-3 months till I could even have my first consultation with him then another 2-3 months before surgery; so she booked me in with a surgeon I hadn't heard of for the following week. When I went home I rang her to say I wanted to book with my chosen surgeon regardless of timescale.
It took 3 phone calls and she still hadn't booked my appointment and was getting more uppity with each request.
At that point I rang the main transform number and explained what was going on and how unhappy I was and I magically got an appointment for the following Monday with him.
I saw him last Monday and have my surgery booked in for the end of this month...
I have a new consultant now who explained that it was because he wasn't one of her surgeons so she would have lost the sale as she would have to pass it over to the Manchester team...
I have to say I have been over the moon with everyone I have encountered at transform aside from this one woman but I just wanted to let you know my story so that if you do encounter any obstructions from seeing the surgeon you want things may not necessarily be as they seem and don't be afraid to push for what you want.

Re: First Transform consultation?
LOL. It is really exciting isn't it I'm glad you didn't get carried away and book anything today Rocky that was the sensible thing to do , I'd try and have at least one other consultation with another surgeon though before booking. Just so you have another surgery plan to compare to so you can decide which is best for you before actually signing for anything.
Hope your consultation goes well hun. xx
