Woman left scarred for life [BA PICTURE WARNING] Empty Woman left scarred for life [BA PICTURE WARNING]

Post by COOKIE 25th June 2012, 10:59 am

A consultant is facing being struck off after a businesswoman was left with horrific scars following a boob job.
Andrea Scott's wanted to boost her bust to a F-cup but the stitches burst open and the implants began sagging out of the wound.
Watchdogs have launched an investigation into what happened following the surgery which was carried out by Dr Ashish Dutta, famed for offering
lunch-break liposuction.
The doctor has already been proven to have inappropriately advised Andrea, inappropriately inserted implants and failed to refer her to another qualified surgeon for a second opinion.
He is currently being investigated for allegedly touting himself as a 'consultant
cosmetic surgeon' when he did not have the right qualifications to
conduct the procedures.
Dr Dutta denies the allegations and declined to comment while the investigation by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) is underway.
The 48-year-old carried out a string of follow-up consultations with
Andrea at the Aesthetic Beauty Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.
A panel has also been told he inappropriately referred to himself as a "consultant cosmetic surgeon".
Andrea, a 34-year-old company director from Consett, County Durham, was left £45,000 out of pocket.
She required four operations over 18-months to correct the blunder and says she is left with psychological scars that affect her business and relationship with her partner.
Andrea went to the surgery to even out the size of her breasts in January 2010
after another doctor gave her a tummy tuck and gastric bypass two years
earlier.

Andrea, who lives with partner Aaron, said: 'I just went to the surgery to get it fixed. 'But it's affected my business and my relationship. I've struggled to come
to terms with it, I've seen a psychiatrist and they've said I have an
adjustment disorder.

'I don't want to think about it, but one of the worst side effects of the condition is suicide. This whole thing has totally taken over my life.
'I've had two years of not going anywhere, and my business has totally failed because I couldn't go to work.

'The worst thing about it is my self confidence between me and my partner.
'Before I had it done I would get out of the shower and it wouldn't be a
problem. Now I don't even like looking at myself in the mirror'
Dr Dutta has already admitted four allegations including 'inappropriately'
inserting smaller implants after an initial operations, under local
anaesthetic, failed.

But the General Medical Council (GMC) also claimed he touted himself as a 'consultant cosmetic surgeon' and he 'did not have the appropriate surgical qualification to conduct the procedures.'
It is also claimed that he inserted a drain into Andrea's chest and that
this procedure put her at a 'heightened risk of infection'. He denies
the allegation.
Andrea said she previously had a boob-op in 2005, but says they lost their shape following a gastric bypass and tummy tuck.
She said: 'It wasn't a vanity thing - I had one breast bigger than the other.
'The NHS wouldn't do it so I went to Dr Dutta. About five weeks after the operation they started to split. It was coming apart but he said there was no infection.'
The latest hearing, chaired by the Reverend Robert Lloyd-Richards, was
adjourned on Friday and will reconvene at a later date for the hearing
to continue.

I felt this is something import ALL pre-op ladies should read. This is why we at BJSF place so much emphasis on all pre-op women doing their research, I know for some it may sound like we're harping on and being over cautious, but this is exactly why we push so hard!!!! And those of us who have been here for a long time have seen something similar happen to ShootingStar who had her surgery abroad and went through the awful time she went though and saw the horror of the pics she showed. These are the reasons why we're so passionate to get as much information as we cann out there to you. But it really up to YOU to do the work girls. .

So PLEASE ladies, do your own research!! I know it may be long winded and excitement may want to take over to just book! But research for your body! Research for yourself! and research for your own saftey!!!

Check the GMC register and BAAPS and BAPRAS

go through the GMC register and BAAPs/BAPRAS, checking all information you've been given about your surgeon is correct. Foreign surgeons may not be on the BAAPs/BAPRAS lists but check they are a UK specialist register for plastic surgery in the GMC register and being a specialist also in reconstruction surgery is always a bonus.

Shocked OMG that is terrible that poor women ! What is it with people thinking they can just open someone up and stick something in and think its ok and dont need any qualifications to do this! you put your health and trust in someone elses hands and they just take it for granted! I hope she finds someway to recover! Woman left scarred for life [BA PICTURE WARNING] 62722

I just read this and feel so sorry for this lady, but the thing that annoys me the most is the comments below the story, none of them are critisising the surgeon or anything, they are just being spiteful about the lady for having surgery in the first place.
There are some nasty nasty people about!

Jodie Marsh had a pretty similar looking scar when she had her b a. She bravely showed them on the internet and they were truly awful. I am grateful that most of us on here have not had such trauma . Cookie, yet again is so right, research is vital xx

I totally agree with you, one thing that really irritates me is ignorance. People just don't understand, don't try to or don't want to. Why can't they realise a woman wouldn't put her both her body and her bank account through this kind of stress if it was as easy as choosing a new pair of shoes. growl

What an absolutely disgusting surgeon, I truly feel sorry for this woman! Research pays off, the less time you spend researching may just well add up to more time fixing the problems you get from complications. x

This is so sad. I really feel for her. And such a good warning to people to research, research, research (thank you Cookie! Your advice is spot on). You're right about it being easy to get swept up in excitement and wanting new boobies NOW, but nothing's worth the pain this poor woman has endured. What a horrible, horrible man!
