Is anybody recovering with unders?
Hi Ladies,
I am due my BA on Wednesday and still can't really decided between overs or unders. My surgeon (Michael Payne - Hospital Group) siad I could have either but leaning more towards unders - I agreed with him. BUT now that it's getting closer I am really worried about the pain as I have a 7yr old and a 9months old baby to look after so I am now thinking I should have unders.
Would be great if anyone could let me know how they got on with unders and if it is always as bad as I've heard?
Thanks ladies x x

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Hi Hun, I'm 3 days post op with unders and I have a 10 month old boy.
I'm doing fine, but I do have help from the husband, and I've arranged for other people to do the heavy lifting for the next 3-4 weeks which was a struggle, but worth it as you need to be careful with your healing.
If you've got any questions, ask away Hun, very happy to help xx

HI Sunshine,
3 days
Do you mind me asking - how is the pain. Can you walk around ok and do little things like getting dressed making cups of tea etc.
I'm so worried as my partner will only be staying with me to help look after the children for the 1st week then I'm pretty much on my own.
What size did you have? I'm thinking 410 (teardrop) but dreading looking like i've had a BA as I don't want people to know.
Gosh ....... there is so much to think about it driving me insane.

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Thanks Hun!
I was at my most uncomfortable in the first couple of days, and it is manageable as long as you take your meds they give you in hospital and remember to sleep propped up (read my post about 'pillow castle'!) then on the third day (today) I've woken up feeling loads better and I haven't taken any pain killers yet today. I just feel a bit tight in my chest.
The thing is, you've had two children, so im pretty sure you're more than capable of managing any pain in the first couple of days, then those days are over and you've got your boobs!
The one thing I would advise is that you may need help for longer with lifting your children after a week. I'm not sure what your PS has told you and I know everyone is different, but I was told not to lift my son for four weeks as you can hurt yourself and make your recovery even longer in doing so. Is there anyone else who can be with you during the day to help out?
Finally, even though yesterday I was still feeling quite uncomfortable, I was making cups of tea (as long as the kettle isn't too full) and walking around the house doing little things, but I've mostly been sitting down watching rubbish telly and wishing I could go outside in my garden! (the neighbours are drilling next door and it's driving me mad).
Xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Also I had 240 rounds as I'm very short and skinny and my PS recommended them as the biggest size I should have if I still wanted to look natural with not too much rounded upper pole so ive still got boobs but people won't look at me and immediately go 'boob job!' xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
I'm recovering from unders, had my 2nd BA two days ago to replace my pip's. I had unders first time around aswell. I'm finding it quite painful to to be honest and very sore (worse than the first time around). I find it better to potter around the house a bit though doing little things rather than just sitting around and not moving. I have a 4 year old daughter so my mum is pretty much living with me at the moment as I can't do much with her, I can't pick up the kettle, flush the toilet etc xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Hi playboybunny. I had pips replaced 5 weeks ago and had unders again and by God it was way more painful than 1st time!! I was actually shocked and surprised at how bad it was. 1st time around I was the opposite, I had way less pain than I expected. This time I did have capsular contracture so I did have a capsulectomy and put the extra pain down to this ,the lovely Cookie confirmed that was prob the reason for more pain. I really struggled for at least 4 days this time with pain and could not even chop an onion Think rest rest rest hunxx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Thanks for all your replies. I know we all heal at differently - wishing you all a speedy recovery now.
Can I ask you all - did any of you have a choice as to have overs/unders? And why did you choice unders? Are you pleased or would you have prefered overs?
Secondly, alot of people say they do not feel as natural or move like real boobs like unders - what do you guys think?
xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
My PS said he wanted to give me unders because I had very little breast tissue and I wanted to look natural, so I accepted that and never considered overs.
Not sure about the rest of your questions yet Hun as I'm still recovering, one of the other girls will help you I'm sure xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
2nd time lucky - same here, I had way less pain last time. Cookie suggested the CC thing to me too, but my pip's were 100% intact, no leaks, gel bleeds or anything and my ps didn't mention anything about capsulectomy, I had a nipple lift and scar revision on top of having the implants replaced though. Were your pip's ruptured/leaking?
Meemoo, I didn't have a choice. I had to have unders as I didn't have much breast tissue. I've heard you recover quicker from overs and they are more likely to be able to be pushed together, but I was also told overs are more likely to sag/droop quicker. I think overs do usually move more than unders x

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Hi playboybunny, I think your surgeon would have told you if you had c c and then the op for it. My pips had leaked and one was very rippled and both very very yellow. I think you are having extra pain because of the other things you had done. The only thing you can focus on is it WILL get better hun and you are now worry free now the toxic titties are out I had c c but dont think it had anything to do with pips but my surgeon said I now have a 50% chance of getting it again ! If I do I pray it will be in the 1st yr as I am covered for 1 yr in the aftercare package..xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Ah yeah that's true, he would have mentioned it. It must be the extra work then :) he just said my pip's were intact/'perfect' and he'd put them in a plastic bag for me to take home lol. Toxic titties! haha those toxic titties are now in a bag in my wardrobe haha how weird! Oh no, I hope it doesn't happen again for you xx

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
hi i had 475 unders in Feb, i do remember the first few days i couldnt do much at all (even tho i drove the car as my husband was real sick so it was an emergency!) but after day three i could fill and lift the kettle, cook a meal for my three children, bath them etc, you just have to be more careful and think before you do anything! I didnt lift anything not even the hoover!

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
thanks for all your replies.
Well I'm having my BA today and unders it is.
Really encouraging to hear that some of you ladies (especially with children) still coped well.
It's not so much the pain that worries me - more the thought of not being able to do the things that need doing!
Thank you all x x x

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Good luck meemoo. I had unders 1st and 2nd time. I had hardly any pain 1st time. I think the best thing to remember is to rest as much as possible even if you feel ok. Dont lift or push anything heavy (hoover). And try not to lift your arms up. When I went for my 1 week check after my 1st b a the nurse told me off because I was wearing a top I had to put over my head . Enjoy your day ,its the best feeling ever to have boobs. Will be thinking about you and looking forward to hearing how it went xx

That's a good way of looking at it honey, you've had major surgery and it feels tough now but get these next few days out of the way and you can start feeling normal again. Normal but with massive boobs! Ace!

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Wow - what a difference a day can make!!
Yessterday I was in tears because I was in so much pain and couldn't even move my arms, yet today I could pretty much pull myself out of bed ok! Wow can't wait to see what day 5 is like hehehehe.
Up until now, I've not had a proper look at them as i was too consumed with the pain. I will say that the shape looks good but I am really sad that they look so small. I'm hoping they will fluff and look a whole cup size bigger at least.
Thanks for all your help ladies. Now that the pain has started to get under control I'm glad I went for unders xx x x

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Glad you're feeling better meemo! :)
Because it's still really early on you'll be really swollen between your boobs and although the swelling is big, it makes your boobs look small as there isn't much definition.
I have to admit, I'm 7 months post op and I really feel like they've fluffed the last few days so there are many changes to go through yet!
Meemoo if you wanna see my picturetrail, you can see how mine look small due to the swelling on my sternum (between boobs!)

Re: Is anybody recovering with unders?
Congratulations on your BA hun.
I had unders and felt like I'd been hit by a train for the first few days - couldnt move my arms, just sitting was difficult. Kettles, hairdryers, knife and fork for that matter, were a struggle.
I think, like you, once I got to Day 4-5, it started to get easier, but because I'd tensed my shoulders for 5 days, I got terrible neck and back ache. The nurse at my 7 day check gave me a fantastic massage and I felt like a new woman afterwards.
Just try and move gently, with no heavy lifting. By Day 10, I was pretty much back to normal, but just without the hoovering and ironing!! (I blagged that for about a month - hubby did it!!)
