Sun cream on scars?
I'm sitting in the garden in my sports bra and put suncream on my scars incase it goes through and burns them. Is it too early? I know I shouldn't put things on them but seemed silly risking it X

If they are all sealed up you should be fine xx

Yeah they aren't scabby or anything! And yep I made that mistake with one on my arm... It will be bright pink forever!
Suncream on my scars, tattoos and burnt bits..... I think I should probably just stay in doors and get a spray tan X

Re: Sun cream on scars?
Be very careful to keep your scars out of the sun babe. They are very much at risk of pigmentation (going brown) for up to a year post-op sweetheart. xx
Re: Sun cream on scars?
Yeah I read uv rays can still get through a sports bra? So I thought sun cream would help? But might just stick something like pads down there to hide them even more (over protective haha) x

Re: Sun cream on scars?
I know, scary thought though isn't it lol. I was the same, especially when my scars were still in the early stages, like you I'd pad them out of the sun too.
Now I just make sure I have factor 50 them.
I just noticed you're just 4 weeks post-op sweetie, you be careful putting suncream on your scars as you're still prone to infection till you get the al clear at your 6 week post-op check. xx

Re: Sun cream on scars?
I would put some pads over yours scaars just in case, it would be better than sun cream, as the sun can get through some material. Enjoy the sun hun, I am sat under my umbrella in the shade in my garden as I type this drinking lots of water (no heat stroke for me).
Re: Sun cream on scars?
Thanks for the advice! I'll stick with pads over them then and wash the suncream off!x

Re: Sun cream on scars?
You can sunbathe sweetie, you just can't expose your breasts, so if you keep that area well covered, there's no problem at all sunbathing if that's what you want to do  The reason for this is that after surgery your skin is very sensitive and stretched so is likely to burn until the skin has had time to relax (generally around 6 weeks post-op). Your scars are very much at risk of pigmentation, so these should be covered and protected until one year post-op. As long as you follow those guidelines, you're fine to sit out in the sun. xx
Re: Sun cream on scars?
Not only your scars babe, but you're whole boobies are at risk of burning as the skin is stretched PO so will be a little thinner/more prone to burning. Nothing worse than sore boobies just as cookie said! Just be careful putting anything near your scars.xx

Re: Sun cream on scars?
I managed to take excellent care of my boobs, they're still as pale as Edward Cullen... Unfortunately I ignored taking care of the rest of me.
The result.... VERY sore, VERY red, and flaking absolutely all over (except my chest). Bloody awful, I would rather be pale than how my body has felt the last few days!
I've never been burned before, so I was quite naive! I'll probably wear factor 50 right through to February now X
