omg today Ive come over really nervous!!! I've had a phone call from the car company arranging my transport to say I'll be getting picked up at 6am tomorrow to get to Preston for 8.30am. I've yet to get a call with my op time. eeeek!!

Good Luck and dont worry it will all be fine! I was really nervous like you beforehand as well, but just relax when you get there, they will look after you! before you know it you are awake again and its all over with! xxx

I was sat in my class at college when I got a phone call from MYA saying mr Russo won't do my surgery because of my letter from my gp which has things about my depression from 2008. He apparently wants to look at my file in more detail. Am sat crying in my car am absolutely devastated. She didn't say how long I will have to wait or anything just that my patient coordinator will ring me after tomorrow when shes in. My boyfriend took days off work, we arranged transport and I had a hotel booked for my boyfriend as well. I feel sick and so angry and upset!!! The lady on the phone asked if I'd had counselling etc I said yes but not in the last few years and I told them I'm taking citalopram weeks ago. I dunno what to think now feel like my life will be on hold

It's good things like this are checked out pre-BA, but surely all surgical checks should be gone through before the eve of your surgery? I know this doesn't help you in any way it just maddened me that it's been left so late for them to deal with for you.

Really hoping you can reschedule the surgery soon hun, maybe make an appointment with your GP to discuss your depression and if your GP feels your fit for having your BA, maybe they could even write to your clinic on your behalf?

Oh god Laura I have a lump in my throat for you that's so awful!

I was depressed a few years ago and was worried it would pop up on my notes too but I think I just avoided it as it was about 9 years ago!

Don't let it get you down he's only delaying it and it's really for your best interests! It shows they're not just a money making machine! It's costing them money by having to reschedule so they should get you booked in ASAP as a priority! I would also expect them to pay any hotel or travel fees that have been wasted!

If they do start taking the p*ss, get your money refunded and tell them you're going elsewhere! MYA aren't the only company who you can go with so don't see this as a dead end, just a bump in the road! It wont take as long from start to finish either, you know exactly what you want now and you have the money!

At the end of the day remember yiu've paid for a BA so one way or another YOU WILL HAVE IT!!!!!!Xxx

Ive ended up making my excuses and leaving college for the day ive just been sat on my bed sobbing. Im really devastated this has come up cause I have a really hard time with my confidence and this is something ive always wanted and will hopefully help me be more confident. i felt like the phone call only lasted a minute and i was surrounded by people so anything she said went over my head. i cant even remember her name cause i assumed it would be my phone call about my admission time. its not like i wanted to have depression, iv coped with it and im better now so why does it have to affect my present when its something i dealt with in my past?! ugh :( xxx

I know it seems unfair, especially as its something that can't be helped! They will just be worried whether you're doing this for you or because you're depressed and doing it impulsively! I'm sure as soon as he's properly seen your notes, and possibly spoken to your doctor or you (so maybe see your doctor like Cookie said) then it will all be cleared up!

Don't think of this as an end to it all, it's just a really sh*t way for things to go and poor by MYA for waiting until now! X

apparently he came out of theatre to highlight the problem with the lady who rang me.. im guessing it was Jenny the nurse from my pre-op. I just cant believe the contact they had with my gp was left til now. im gonna have to ring mya newcastle and see what they say about the transport being cancelled and hotel etc. I put my deposit down asap to keep this date

To be honest I would be kicking up a MAJOR stink, this is something that should have been highlighted weeks ago, did he never ask you if you've been depressed? I think mine did or the nurse (one or both of the two) but I lied and said no... Naughty! But then was worried it would be on my drs forms but like I say was a long time ago!

They DEFINITELY need to reimburse you for travel and hotel fees, possibly see what this is costing you for taking time off work and have that refunded from the price you paid. Had they pulled their finger out and done their job properly it would have saved you time and stress! Explain you're very upset and have lost your confidence in MYA. X

im getting the lady to ring me back now so i can try and take in the information better! I'm no good at being annoyed i just feel sad and i know its nobody's fault really BUT having said that whyyy was it left until today. Hope I can get the hotel money back too cause im skint thanks to this op that aint happening ha

I think when crap things like this happen, you maybe have to think perhaps its fate, that these things happen for a reason, and that you just werent supposed to go ahead when it was planned. I know its annoying, but Im sure you will get there in the end. I dont think my Doctor even knew I was having mine done, so dont think my ps accessed my medical records?? You would think they could have just got your doctor to fax something over or chat on the phone to save postponing things?

sorry I think I missed your post somehow alice. I know i definitely need this paying for. I cant believe its literally the afternoon before my op and this happens. Its made me feel like theyre too busy for me and only bothered to have a quick look over my file the day before. my mam is furious which is surprising cause i thought she'd be happy about it not going ahead but she knows how ive planned this perfectly and been really excited.
I dont really fancy going back to mya for more consultations when each time I go I wait around an hour past my appointment time to be seen. and it takes about 2 weeks to get a doctors appointment and what is the doctor going to say to me anyway? I know my past so I know what he'll have had to tell them.

Call them again laura and demand that you be spoken to as soon as possible because they will end up calling you back or saying sorry its home time.. the nurse has gone home ect. and just fob you off.
they know its out of order it cant be ok to look over a patients file and only realise the day before the op.
id ask to speak to the clinic manager if i was you chick
and obviously get answers as to what they are going to do about your transport and hotel fees ect xxx

iv just rang back again and she's still in with a customer. they have the receptionist in today, Amy one of the patient co-ordinators and Jenny the nurse. Jenny is the one who rang earlier so im waiting to hear back from her. I feel like walking away. If I cancelled my op now id lose out, if they cancel my op I still lose out. GRRR

i just keep ringing every 30 mins if they do not call you back.
appriciate they are busy but this is something that needs explaining to you why / when / how long ect...
but also id get them to explain themselv's as to why have they been leaving it so late to just tell you now. when you have made arrangements and if this was a week earlier you could of cancelled or rearranged whithout loosing out xxx
