Hiya ladies I'm just wondering if any of you post op girls has had any problems with and infection round your wound area? I'm due my BA in 17 days and I've thought about infection risks before but completely forgot about it till now !!! So I was just wondering what chances are of getting one?

I had a slight little weepy area at the edge of one of my incisions were one of the sutures was, and I went to my GP but he didnt prescribe me any additional antibiotics. You should be sent home with antibiotics which should cover you, so as long as you take basic precautions, change ur bra and jammies frequently you should be fine. When I first got my dressings off I was uncomfortable in just my sports bra as I felt asthough it was rubbing on my wounds so I folded always pads in half along the bottom of the bra to prevent rubbing and just changed them frequently. Any questions just ask :) x

Hi Trisha, after I had my dresings off the scab had stuck to my bra and came off before it was ready I ended up with a wee hole that wouldnt close and had to get stitches put in. My surgeon gave me antibiotics as a precaution and it has now healed brilliantly. I had to use a antibacterial spray along my incision line and put a net dressing on then a full dressing.

I asked my surgeon if this was a common thing and he said no, so I would just be very careful and take all the advice that your s.urgeon and PCC gives you.

Good Luck x
