Re: March buddies
Just can't do it I'm so stressed I just don't think I can go through with it. Surely if I'm this worried it means I should wait. I'm just so scared of the long term health issues & the fact that there is no hard evidence either way that the new implants are any safer. I think I need to,postpone until I get my head straight I wish you girls the best of luck. x

Re: March buddies
Salmac, what is it that is stressing you out? Is it the surgery itself, the implants, the size/profile you're not sure of? How long have you been thinking about getting a ba? I don't know if it's because you're having last minute nerves, or you really are seriously doubting the whole thing. I think the answers to these questions might help you decide what to do next.
It's taken me over two years to make my final decision even though I knew I was going ahead with it, I was leaning with having only an uplift for quite some time for my personal reasons. xxx

Re: March buddies
Hey Salmac,
You shouldn't go ahead if you're not ready. Saying that, the Allergan implants have been used since the 1990's I think and they have LOADS of safety information (my friend found an article where a woman in iraq got hit in the boob by shrapnel and the implant didn't leak!!)
There's probably videos of someone cutting them open online - they're like jelly babies inside so if they do rupture, nothing will go anywhere (unlike pips which were like really thick gravy inside, so they'd leak out.
Have a good think and discuss with your surgeon/nurse. You could always ask for saline - that defo won't do any harm as they pump it into people veins every day (that's what a lot of drips contain)
Let us know what you're thinking, and don't let people pressure you into having it done if you're not 100%.

Re: March buddies
Thank you so much for your support! It's the actual long term health issues that are concerning me. I had a Long ready of the allergen core/ FDA studies and they have really scared me. I know the have to cover their own and list all possible risks but it still worries me too much. Even the new implants do fuse some gel out. I am going to postpone and have a chat with my surgeon, I'm to worried at the moment to think straight. Looks like it will be chicken fillets in my bra for the foreseeable. again, a i really hope all of the march buddies surgery goes well, I wish you all the best of luck and a speedy recovery. I won't look at your results as I may regret postponing! Xx

Re: March buddies
Salmac, I think you're doing the right thing. There's no point if you're not sure. I read this too, I think it's a good thing to be aware and do your research. All surgery involves risks, and implants are foreign objects. But then again, everything involves risks to some degree anyhow. If you still want to go ahead with surgery in the future, then you'll know it's what you really want.
Luluthefirt mentioned saline, these do feel safer for a lot of women. However they do come with their own sets of problems too. They feel firmer, and ripple more for instance. I'm from Canada where saline was the norm for many years, I've seen and felt the difference, but many women are happy with these regardless. Personally they're not for me, but to each their own.
Just remember there's no rush, it's best to do this if/when you're truly ready. xxx

Re: March buddies
Hi girls!
Oooo Salmac, I'm sorry to be losing my surgery buddy x i cant offer any words of advice cos you being wobbly about it all has made me wobbly about it all and question whether I am being ridiculous and taking unnecessary risks?
I have to say that I havent researched the long term effects as I will only whittle about everything that I read and part of me would rather not know. I'm like that about everything....i.e meat comes from the supermarket-i need know nothing more........Sorry. :(
Are the risks something everyone else has researched? If so, any words of calming wisdom for me..... ????
:(((((( on top of this, We have had a very traumatic evening in that I had to call the police to break in to our Uncle's house as he wasnt answering and it was all too late :'( Bless him-the kindest sweetest man ever :'( so my awareness of mortality right now is pretty high
Thanks, girls....

Hey Nepoly, sorry to hear about your uncle :-( & I didn't mean to panic you. I am a worrier and I research everything TOO much, so much so that I've driven myself crazy! From what I've read which is a lot, I have concluded that silicon implants are very successful for many people and not for some. I was due to pay this week and i just felt more worried than excited so i felt maybe i need time to consider further. However im not saying never, as the fact still remains that I hate my flat chest & that's not going to change! X

Re: March buddies
Hi Salmac x
Please dont worry about me.... I think you are doing the right thing in waitin longer to think about it... :)
In recent years I have lost my gorgous mother to ovarian cancer at age 52, everything you can do to prevent it happening she had unbeknowingly done, i.e breastfed, taken the pill etc etc.... The odds of her contracting it were slim. 6 weeks after losing her, I had a son 9 weeks early and born with a condition whereby his throat ended in a pouch and didn't go to his stomach...... This condition (TOF) affects 1 in 3,000 babies..... So I guess my philosophy is that it doesnt really matter what you do in life, you cant prevent everything, its just not possible, of course you can be careful and sensible, smoking, drugs etc but I could spend a lifetime doing everything to prevent ovarian cancer and something else might get me..... It wont, cos i'm gonna live forever you see ;) xx
My mum passed away so young that I am determined that I will take a few risks which might make me happier.... And having boobs is one of them!
I hope you settle yourself soon xxxx

Thanks Roxanne
Salmac - I hope this has given you a different perspective on things. After reading your post about being concerned, as you know, I was really concerned. So, I looked into things a little bit (I am sooo daring!!!) and you know, having implants isn't a silly risk to take. As people have said, leaving your house every morning comes with risks.....getting into a car comes with risks.....then getting really deep, look at the poor people involved in tsunamis and earthquakes....they don't even leave their houses. I think I have gone too far down this road now to not go back and always wonder 'what if I had gone through with it'....I am sooooo excited about looking nice in a bikini and bras that I just can't wait!! Although someone please remind me about the fat bottom and lardy thighs!!! ha ha! Take stock of everything and go with your gut feeling.....your gut feeling is always the right one to go with :)
Hey EmmaArden!!!! How are you??? Congratulations on your two new friends!!! How are you? How was the GA? The bit I am most dreading!!! Can you tell if your new boobies look nice and big yet?? What time did you go down? I can't wait to hear your story!!
Erm........girls......you know what this means don't you?????
I'M NEXT!!!!!!!
