Re: March buddies
I forgot to tell you girls that this afternoon I have a consultation with the anaesthesist. I never heard this before but that's how they do things here. I think he will go through the paper work today to save us time on the day of surgery. Will let you know how it goes xxx

Re: March buddies
Trisha, I'm jelous of everyone atm, I'm the last one, on the 30th, it's really frustrating. I had my first consult months ago, and was the first to book my surgery date, but this was the earliest they could book me in March. xxx

Re: March buddies
Hi wonie thank you!! I started taking iron today (because I have low iron) and it's important for me since I will lose some blood during surgery. The consultation was face to face with the anaesthesist and then with the nurse. They both asked me lots of health questions, took my blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height and ordered my dinner and breakfast already lol!! She told me to shave, remove piercings, no body lotion, no nail polish and no make up. They gave me a presentation on how I should shower before surgery and what soap to use?!wonie wrote:well girlies, nearly there!!! i hope your all ok and not got any colds coming lol. ill be thinking of you all. eak.. xaxa, not heard of that before, is it face to face or over the phone? xx
The nurse took me a blood test and she immediately noticed that I'm scared of the needle because I became red with panic and started to feel a bit dizzy. She noted it down on my file. Then I asked her if the canula used for GA will be the same as the blood test and she said "mmm well it's a bit different ". I'm SURE it will be bigger and ticker. Wonie do you (or your mum) remember what colour was the canula for your surgery? Because from the colour I could know how big it is.

Re: March buddies
That's very together of them xaxa, the hospital sounds very organised. I read on my pre op guidelines to wash with anti-bac soap the night before surgery, did they recommend the same then?

Re: March buddies
Hello!
I was booked for my BA on the 5th Match but had to push the date back cos I broke my leg just before xmas and they wouldn't operate while my leg is in a cast :(
It's coming off in 2 weeks though and got my op in 3 weeks.
So excited/nervous.
It's really nice to see that otehr people are stressing about their ccs and poss complications - I'm not the only one!!
Not long til march

@ roxanne: yes, that's it, an antibacterial shower (lol you should see the printed presentation that they gave me)
@ luluthefirst: welcome to the forum and to the march buddies thread! you've been very unlucky to break your leg on xmas and right before the surgery :o( when exactly is your surgery?

Mine's the 22nd March. They're worried about MRSA as I'll be going into a NHS hospital to get my cast removed just 7 days before. Think I'm going to live in antibacterial solution for the week!

Re: March buddies
In a way it's good timing lulu because you'll be resting your boobs and leg at the same time (since you'll be spending most of the time sat down). I think you're already 'trained' for it :p

Re: March buddies
Evening girls!
OK, I am really really not looking forward to the canula......hate hate hate needles.....and the fact that they put them in the back of your hand freaks me out too.......EEK!! However, I can honestly say that when I had one before it is not half as bad as you think it is going to be and if they put the Emla cream on beforehand then you really hardly feel it....honestly honestly... xx
Welcome luluthefirst!Only two more sleeps then it is our month eh??? Exciting!!
Whats everyone got bra wise in preparation? I am currently 34a(small) and am having 320cc so have got a 34d post surgery bra and a 34dd medium impact sports bra and will order my Macom tomorrow.....is that enough until I am all done and dusted cos can always order others afterwards can't I when I know more? Mr Hamilton suggested getting a 34d and 34dd - so thats what I got??
I really must get on to it this weekend and gather together most things.....!

Re: March buddies
Welcome luluthefirst!
You'll all be fine, don't worry about the canula, just remember to take deep breaths, focus on breathing, it'll help with the pain. I'm just glad I haven't gotta have a spinal like I did with both my c-sections.
I haven't bought any bras. I'm not too bothered, ps told me not to worry until after first week post op consult anyhow. I'm gonna buy a 32(small) Macom ahead of time. I'm not wearing a bra for a week following op, so if swelling hasn't gone down by then I'll buy a cheap one in a larger band. If swelling has gone down I'll go straight to the Macom, and buy a few other different bras in the suitable size. I'm currently a full 32c or empty 34c (therefore 34b but the b is always too small). I'm getting either 240 or 210 cc. I think I'll be a full 32d or small 32dd (full 34c/small34d) depending on bra and outcome, it's hard to a say until afterwards I suppose, hence the practicality of the Macom! xxx

Re: March buddies
Hi Nepoly & roxanne - thank you for reassuring us regarding the canula. The anaesthesist told me that they will give me a sedative, hopefully it will make things easier.
@ Nepoly - in my case the dressings will be provided by the hospital and I have to spend at least the first week in them (like roxanne and wonie). Then, I bought 2 Lonsdale sportsbras from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] If you have to wear a surgical bra right after surgery, then you did well ordering a Macom they seem to be the most popular here.
MARCH BUDDIES - today is the last day of February, hurray!!

Re: March buddies
I bought 2 shock absorber bras from JJB as they had a bogof thing going on.
My surgeon is aiming for 32DD and he told me to buy bras that size. So I got one that size, one 32E and I think I'll get a Macom in case they don't fit!!
Roxanne, I think I'm similar to you (maybe sl smaller) but I'm trying out 310 and 335s (as in he's ordered both sizes to try out during surgery)
I'm really excited!!! Is everyone going for under boob incisions? I'm having periareolar. It just makes sense to me to go there!
xx

Re: March buddies
I am an emotional swinger!!!
One minute I'm getting boob greed and thinking of asking them to order bigger implants, the next minute i'm thinking of not going ahead with surgery because you hear all the scary stories.
Ahhh! Today I am happy with what I've already decided, the next 3 weeks cannot come sooner. :)
