Stinking Cold BA 29/12 !!!!

I hope your all well i am worried i have got a stinking cold and my BA is on the 29th do you think i will still be able to have it done with a cold ?

I caught a rotten cold about a week before my op was scheduled. MyBreast told me I had to turn up & let the PS decide if he wanted to go ahead. In the end the anaesthetist ended up saying my temp. was too high. So I had to go home & reschedule. Of course, this may not happen to you. I was taking loads of vit c etc. but must've caught a particularly nasty cold bug. Defo do everything you can to rest up and get well. But in the end, it's up to the nurses & PS on the 29th. If they say 'no go' then at least you can be sure there'll be no problem recheduling. But maybe let them know in advance if you're still not feeling well after Xmas.

In the end, I look back & was glad I didn't have it then - I went home to bed & felt rubbish for another couple of days. I finally had my op in March and was glad my health was okay, because you need to take care of yourself in the days after. Hope this helps. Good luck with it & get well soon! x

same happened to me! a week before my op I got a hideous cold, then 3 days before a hideous sore throat, felt horrid! BUT...I did the following

Vitamin C 1000mg with bioflavanoids 10 capsules a day, spread over the day ( v safe short term, but come off them slowly) only buy a high quality one or they just don't do much as the body has to deal with the binding agents etc in the cheap ones. try solgar, nature's own, nature's sunshine, quest etc.

gargled with v warm salt water (yuk)

high dose vit D (10,000iu if you can get it)

sniffed eucalyptus oil on and off, hot baths with epsom salts and oils.

drank plenty of water - but not too much or you just wee all the vits out!!

ate well, lots honey n fresh lemon, rested...

was fine and had my op.

you have plenty of time,. i think its the nerves that do it, so just tell yourself it doesnt matter if its cancelled it WILL still happen, and try to relax. (says me!!!!)

I had my BA yesterday and woke with a sore throat and bunged up nose two days before. I too took Vit C, which my ps had advised to do two weeks prior to op anyway. I used a throat spray, gargled with salt water (boiled but not boiling is best). Went ahead yesterday still with throat a bit sore, but today it has gone. You have lots of time to heal.

Aww hun hope you are feeling better for your BA.

Definatley rest and drink plenty of fluids and hopefully you will be well enough to go ahead. As Towie said it will be up to your PS and anethestist on the day if you are still not 100% they will have your best interests at heart.

I had to have emergency surgery for my illness 5 years ago and I had a cold at the time and it took me months to recover afterwards as it developed into a severe chest infection and I was on nebulisers for weeks.

I am feeling a lot brighter today and am resting and drinking lots of fluids and using olbas oil ....thank you for all your advise and good wishes fingers crossed I will be fighting fit again for Thursday am also taking a tonic .... I hope you all have a lovely Christmas xxxxxx

Thanks for all the advise I hope you all had a lovely Christmas ..may cold has gone just left with a very annoying cough am taking cough mixture and drinking lots of water fingers crossed I will be ok Thursday ....I will keep you updated .
