swelling,sore how long?
Hi Girls Hope everyone is doing well today?
I'm after some advice and hopefully some reassurance!!
I had partial unders on 22nd oct and have been doing really well in general. My right breast needed a lot more work than the left to get the implant in and there was loads more bruising and swelling around it straight after the op. To begin with both breasts were equally swollen but now my left has no swelling left and is perfect. It's righty that's the problem!! From about 4 days post op i've had a really sore area on the outside of my breast, which day by day has got more sore. I've described it as the implant digging in (which i doubt it actually is) Anyway it's so sore now it even hurts if i brush my arm against it. My right breast is still as swollen as straight after the op too. It doesn't help that the left one is so perfect i think it might be making me think the right is worse than it is? I'm just worried there's something wrong with it :$ They've both softened really well it's just painful to poke it and see with the right!
I've told 2 different nurses about it and they say it's because i had more work done.
What do you think Ladies?? Thanks in advance

I have a similar problem. I had my op on the 23rd. I don't think they had to do more work on my right but this is still swollen and high and quite sensitivw.where as my left looks normal and has even dropped.
I think it may be down to the fact that I'm right handed and the muscles are more bigger than my left. I'm seeing the nurse on sat so will ask then.
I'm sure you have nothing to worry about as you are still early days x

I had mine done on the 21st...the moment I came out of surgery the doc told me I will have one more swollen and more sore than the other...he says it always happens.
and Voila, today was my check up and the left one is definately more swollen than the other...the right one looks great and actually looks as if its dropped a little....
seems its normal

Re: swelling,sore how long?
As far as the swelling and bruising, that could definitely be because you had more work done. Also, the pain could just be that you've got more sensitivity and nerve function returned to your right side. (Mine were numb for a few weeks post op, so if there was pain I couldn't feel it! )
I'd only be concerned if the swelling got worse, was accompanied by redness or heat or fever.
Also, I may want to hear straight from the PS that your pain should be getting worse, not that I don't trust nurses, but they didn't actually do the operation, so you may want to ask him.
Happy healing hun, in a few weeks you won't remember the pain at all!!

Re: swelling,sore how long?
Hi Hun, I had my op on the 30th august and still have this problem withy right. The pain wakes me up when I move in the night.
I've seen my ps several times about this and he said it's severe muscular contracture ( my right implant was up near my collar bone and extremely swollen ) I had to keep my breast band on for the first 7 weeks and nit use my right arm at all for 4 weeks and then no lifting my baby pushing pram, hoovering, ironing etc until 7 weeks.
My ps is hopeful that this will sort itself out nit said he will know more when I see him next on the 28th nov when I'll be 3 months po.
Don't mean to scare you huni hopefully yours is just normal swelling and bruising but I would definitely ask to see your ps if it's not getting better. I spoke to nurses first to and think I left it to long before insisting I saw my ps. It's your body and if you feel something isn't right you should definitely see your ps been it's just to put your mind at ease.
Good luck huni xx

Re: swelling,sore how long?
Hey girls Thanks for your replies
I'm seeing my PS on Monday for my 2 week check and stitches being taken out.
I think though if it's the same tomorrow i'll give him a quick ring cos i have to be honest i don't trust the nurses ( they've given me other info that was wrong!) and as you've said it's prob worth checking it is normal post op stuff.
My goodness and there was me thinking the Op was going to be the hard bit, i'm worrying about everything!!!
Thanks a lot ladies i do feel so much more reassured now

Re: swelling,sore how long?
Honestly, I think I did a post at about 3-6 weeks post op - just nervous about stuff, worrying that they felt "Strange" still and wanting them to just be a part of me....it's a process but hopefully it will all be worth it in 6 months or so.

Ah yes, the "sunburned booby feeling" - that goes away after 6 weeks or so!
