Prgnancy risk after BA from taking antibiotics??

Hi girls,

I was just wondering if you had to be extra careful after your BA because you've taken antibiotics? I'm on the implant and I wondered if it would affect it? I was given all my antibiotics at the hosipital through a drip so haven't taken any since I've been home. The doctor didn't mention anything but im not ready for kids so just wanted to know. Thanks! Xxx

i had to take a course of antibiotics after i left the hospital and had some through a drip too. i asked my PS whether it would affect my contraception and do you know what he did??? he googled it Prgnancy risk after BA from taking antibiotics?? 869500

!!!! so i went to my gp and asked her she said it shouldnt affect it but you never know! again... not very helpful Prgnancy risk after BA from taking antibiotics?? 683465

so i decided to use condoms if i was going to have sex for the next 2 weeks after i took the last one until the antibiotics were out of my system! better safe than sorry! xx

Hey hun i have the contraceptive implant and yes antibotics affect it, when i had to take a course of anitbiotics i had to finish the course and then had to carry on using condoms two weeks after finishing the course, thats what my gp told me. xxx

Hey hun, I was on (ALOT!!) of antibiotics for the past 5 weeks, and i honestly didnt think anything of it until my friend at work asked me. I googled it and it says it doesnt affect the pill?! "This change in advice comes because to date there is no evidence to prove that antibiotics (other than rifampicin or rifabutin) affect these contraceptives. This is the latest guidance from the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare. " Only if you've been sick or had diahrorea (cannot spell it!). xxx

Thanks for your replies. I don't think I am, we've only managed once so far but I felt sick earlier and it suddenly crossed my mind! Xxx

I feel sick all the time recently, I thought it was the antibiotics but I finally stopped them on Wednesday :-( Im not sure if im just paranoid! Whats the copper coil? I wasn't sure if you could have the coil if you havent had a baby before? xxx
