I dont think this would happen these days, people hvae ba's abroad then fly home, just ask your ps. Maybe with the old style implants, but they are made so well now.

Re: implants burst on planes!!
iv done some googling on it! it has happend but they think the implants were already weakend and going on the plane just was the last straw they exploded and wen she landed she passed out and was taken to hospital, i think its more with old or cheap implants

Google and I have a love hate relationship... Google has info on everything but so much is biased and makes me worry about everything! My surgeon told me to stop reading and believing everything i read on the internet! haha

Re: implants burst on planes!!
H barbiecon! Yes, that was ages ago when the impants were still made of liquid silicone. The implant must have burst with pressure (but probably it was overfilled or something. Nowadays implants are filled with highly cohesive gel and they don't leak. They have a very strong/flexible outer shell which is hard to tear. Keep your mind at rest, my surgeon had told me that I can catch a plane 10 days after the operation without risks.

Re: implants burst on planes!!
This made me giggle. You'll be fine I've been on a plane and my boobs felt no different.
Re: implants burst on planes!!
my mom had implants back in the 70's and she travelled many times by plane and never had a problem. I think that was specific to that person and whatever probs she had with her implants already.

Re: implants burst on planes!!
The only story I've heard of a particular lady who had her implants burst while aboard a plane in sky (which resulted in death, and not saying that to scare any one) was because she had her BA done by some wack-job PS (a fly-by-night PS, if you will), who was not board certified or didn't have any professional credentials of any kind. This PS did not know what he was doing, so the end result ended up with that happening to her.
I'm sure all board certified PS' who have the proper and appropriate credentials would not let this happen to you and would certainly let you know if this was of any concern before going through with the final procedure.
Have a great day!

Re: implants burst on planes!!
The air pressure on a plane is normal isnt it??
If the air pressure was any different we wouldnt be able to breathe or our other organs would explode too.... wouldnt they?
I flew 3 months post BA - was all fine.

haha google is evil!! upto now since i looked into boobs i've been worried i'll die during ga, that they'll fall out the bottom of my incision if i take my bra of for too long and that i'll explode on a flight doubt it lol. Although my nurse said keep my stockings and wear them when flying now which i will as i do as i'm told (sometimes) lol xx

Just say the magic word "BOMB" at any airport of your choice and you'll get a free mammogram, body scan, ultra-sound and if you say "TERRORIST" you'll even get a free endoscopy as a bonus
