PreOp was today. SECRET GOT OUT TO MY PARENTS

Ohhhh my goodness. What an eventful day today was.

I had my preop appointment this morning. I paid for my surgery in FULL! The PA went over the procedure and the aftercare, I had my vitals done, etc.

While I was at the appointment, my sister sent me a text message asking where I was. I responded back saying:

"at my pre-op appt."

She, my hubby, and my 3 best friends were the only people that knew about getting a BA. My sister sent me a text back right away saying:

"What is a pre-op appt?"

I couldn't respond, because I was busy talking with the nurses and PA. So since I didn't respond, she sent my mother a text and said:

"What is a pre-op appt? Rachel said she's at one but I don't know what it is".

OH MY GOSH.

So as soon as I'm about to leave the office, I look at my phone and see a text message from my mom saying "Were you even going to tell your dad and I about your surgery? What is going on? I'm worried about you..."

I immediately feel like I'm going to vomit. So I send her a text saying:

"Ugh...Ok, I will tell you what's going on, but you can't tell dad. I've been wanting this done for a long time, and I've finally decided to do it. I'm have a breast augmentation. I'm sick of my left breast being an entire cup size larger than my right, and I'm sick of bras pretty much falling off of me."

About 10 minutes later, which seemed like a lifetime, I got a response back from her saying:

"I know you asked that I shouldn't tell your dad, but he knew that you were having a surgery from your sister's text, so I had to tell him. Your dad is not mad, he's just concerned about you. You know you can talk to us about anything. We won't tell anyone else, we promise. Dad said if you're okay with it, then he is. Just don't get a nose job, lol. You could come here after your surgery and I can take care of you for the first few days"


OH MY GOSH. I was NOT expecting that at all! First of all, let me tell you, my dad is a retired PASTOR! VERY old fashioned. He's not super conservative, but he's very intimidating when it comes to things like this! So I was terrified to tell him!

For anyone that's too afraid to tell your parent's, you could be surprised by their reactions! I know I am! I feel a HUGE relief lifted off my shoulders. For the past month I have been researching on how to HIDE my BA from my family. And now I don't have to! I'm 25 years old and married, so I felt like I didn't need to tell my parent's because I'm a big girl. But THANK GOD for my sister's big mouth, because if it weren't for her, I'd still be hiding it from my parent's.

I'm so ready to have my BA! TWO MORE WEEKS!

You must feel on top of the world now - parents can seem a bit scary with these sort of things but they only have your best interests at heart, now that you have explained to them the reasons you are going ahead of the surgery its fab that they are supporting you.

Aw thats brill hun, you can enjoy your journey even more now that you don't feel you need to hide it. I told my parents straight away and got the opposite reaction, which is fine with me as im not too bothered lol as i would do it either way..so really happy for you hun x x

Aww that's lovely! What a nice message to get back from your mum. I'm glad they're being so supportive of you. Dads are funny old creatures aren't they :) they just worry about their daughters I guess.

it took me a while as well to finally let my parents in on what i have been thinking about all through my teenage years...it took me 3 years to build up the courage to tell me mum i wanted surgery to correct breast asymmetry, (then about a year for her to finally come round to the idea of this) and finally about 6 months after telling my mum, my dad found out and now my dad is driving me to my first nhs consultation next monday. it feels a relief not to have to be hiding it anymore :)

Leanne, that's so great! I bet you feel the same way I do...FANTASTIC! :) I'm so excited to have nice, bigger, and EVEN breasts! No more lacking self confidence!

Phewww what a big weight off your chest!!! I have the same problem with my conservative dad and still hiding from everyone. You are lucky that they didn't over-react and offered their help instead, I would feel so guilty if that happened to me! I feel like betraying them

I cant tell you how pleased I am for you!!!!! I think that telling parents is hard for lots of us on here, but you really could not of asked for a more perfect reply than that!!!!! Hurrah for you and your lovely parents, and good luck for your new boobies xxxx

I worried about telling my parents. I knew I'd tell them as small boobs are a bit of a running joke in the family, but my mum shocked me by saying if she had the money when she was my age she'd have done it too!

I've noticed a bit of a trend on the forum. Those who book appointments and book surgery then tell their parents seem to find they get a better reaction than those who tell them from the off-set. I could be wrong, just something I noticed.

Yeh I think I'd agree with that Roxy - it's easy for parents to treat it as a whim or a daft idea you've got in your head, but telling them once it's all booked is a bit more definite... 'oh right, she's actually serious about this - lets support her'

Aw hun thats great.I agree with roxy i told my mum a week before and she was great and supportive. She texts me every day. We dont have a good relationship but she has proved a lot to me these last 3 weeks with her supportive.

so glad it went better than what you thought it would everyone was super supportive to me and everyone knows about mine i never wanted to hide them im happy after 19 years of A boobs i have E/F now lol!!! xx

i think i remember reading a post from you a while ago about your dad being a retired pastor or sumthn, n io said i bet ule be surprised at his reaction. Itrs so funny, cos i thought the same about my parents, and they were both behind me 100%. I didnt even have the good excuse of different breast sizes! i just wanted to be bigger! Congrats on that, i bet you feel tons better! :)
