Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
Hi Ladies,
Quick question..... I have a stitch that has come through the skin. Its only a few mm long. Should I cut it? (I thought they were ment to dissolve )

They do sometimes stick out, I'm not really sure if you should do it yourself or make an appointment to see the nurse at transform?
Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
Hello there MsLondon-I reckon its probably best to play it safe and give Transform a quick call and ask them what you should do chick 8-)

Don't pull it out hun, they usually fall out when they're ready, if not make an appointment with the clinic nurse to snip if she feels that's what it needs lovely. xx
Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
Thanks Ladies x
I'll give the nurse a call on monday. I was so tempted to cut it but I dont want to do any damage. Its not what I had imagined, it feels like a wire.

Ms london congrats I agree with all the other ladies advise
Go to the clinic and have it checked out. Its a sterile environment there and you wouldn't want to complicate things.
Take care and let us know how it goes X

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna ring the clinic tomorrow. You're right Uplift it is best to do it in a sterile environment using sterile equipment. Its about a 45min - 1hr drive to the clinic for something I know will take seconds to sort out, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
I am "spitting stitches" like crazy. That;s what the nurse called it.LOL!I was told to snip them close to the skin with sterile scissors but don't pull them out.But call your clinic to see what they tell you to do.

Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
Thanks for posting this. I've just discovered a spiky bit sticking out and came on here to do some research. Such a relief to hear it is normal and now I will resist the urge to pull at it with a pair of tweezers.

Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
I was half expecting it to dissolve when I had a shower , when I told my husband he just looked at me like I was completely insaine lol. I hope I dont start 'spitting stitches'... eeek. Why call them dissolveable if they dont bloody dissolve .

Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
UPDATE:
I called the nurse and she said it was ok for me to cut it, but I had to make sure I cut it really close to the skin. So I sterilised my small beauty scissors (the one I use to trim my eye brows), stood in front of the mirror and tried to get a grip on it with my fingers... And as I did so it broke off.
All that drama for nothing! So glad I did have to drive all the way down to the clinic. Panic over!

Glad it's all ok now hun, at least you know what to do should you get another one.
Re: Dissolveable Stitches Dilema...
Got my hubby to trim mine. Bless him - one minute I want him to get excited looking at them, the next I want him to be my surgeon. Lol.
