Got measured - uncomfortable (((
Hi Girlies, need to rant...
Pre-op i was 32A, this is how i got measured, but i was always wearing a 34A because of all the padding and gel, otherwise 34AA fit me nicely. But 34! not 32((
I however went to get measured pre-op and both Debenhams and M&S measured me at 32B - whoever saw my pre-BA pics will agree they werent B.
Now, after the op I was wearing 34C sports bras, but i had to take the straps up to hold my boobs better and the nurse told me to get a bra that better holds my puppies.
I went shopping for another sports bra yesterday and again got measured 32 band wise, I bought a 32D as 32C cups werent big enough.
I am in agony today, 32 is obvioulsy too tight, I dont feel comfortable at all, its not even on the tightest fastening and its still tight (( I am angry with all the measurements, i wish i didnt listen and just wore 34, this is annoying, i cant wait till i get home and put my 34C back on.
why why why do they measure me at 32 when I am clearly 34 ?

Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
You probably still have swelling which will make wearing a 32 sore. But you shouldn't be taking all the support on your shoulders. A 32 would normally be the right size by the sound of it
Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
I was a 32A also i was told to up 2 cupsizes ....like yourself the size i was told to get was wrong .I got mearused in BHS im a 34D at the moment ....oh my the difference it wicked im not being cut into and my boobs are sitting comfy where they are . ok i got padding cos of the strap etc.
I have my 3 wk check on saturday ...but if i get told to get a smaller cup size i will be telling the nurse to 'jog on' Im not prepared to put myself through any more pain than i have too xxx

Also you shouldn't wear a bra on the tightest fastening it should be on the loosest fastening and you tighten as the bra losens through wear and tear. I would go get fitted for a bra. As measuring with tape is not accurate
Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
My ribcage measures at 28.5 inch girls. I just got home and got changed into my 34C bra... heaven :)

Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
you should probably be wearing a 30 or 32 band (if the 30 is too tight) but not yet hun, the pain will go when you are less swollen, but a 34 in future will not give you the support you need at all.
Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
it is such a pain getting measured hun, i was told im a 34dd but they all seem tight! so i wear a 32e or a 36dd perfect!!! just wear what u think fits u right xx

Bra measurements are useless. I've had to try loads on to find my right size.

Sweetheart, none of the support needed for your breasts should come from your straps, the support should come from your band, so I'm inclined to agree with the fitter that a 34 band is to large for you and the 32 would give you the support you need

You shouldn't be fastening on the tightest fastening just now babe, you should fasten on the loostest fastening, ensuring you can run two fingers snugly around the band.

The fitters are right in what they've suggested for you as you're clearly not getting enough support from the 34 band.
The only other thing I'm thinking is that you may have some swelling still around the band area, but not quite be a 34 band, have you tried bra expanders? you can pace these to get the most comfortable fit tailoring it just for you. I also found cotton wool wads cushioning the wound area helped alot too. xx
Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
Maybe if you set it on the loosest setting it will be more comfortable. You mentioned you used to wear a bigger band before getting measured.Maybe you just need to get used to the snug feeling Hun.It's so hard to find bras that fit well and support :(

Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
the bra should be snug around your ribs and it should feel supportive witht he straps down too. It may be swelling at the mo too. I had to go one size bigger after my ba. xx

Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
Little update here with me girls: I wore this new bra which was 32D and i was moaning it was too tight, but i wore it on the loosest fitting first couple of days and then on the middle one and i got so used to this sung feeling and great support that when i went back to my 34C it felt really loose and didnt give me any support. So yes, i fully agree with the above, i think my proper band size is indeed 32, its so comfy now, maybe indeed it was the swelling but i now need to ditch all my 34s lol which is only 2 of them and get more 32s, which is also a pleasure seeing as 32 is a D and 34s were Cs lol come here my lovely D size boobies

Re: Got measured - uncomfortable (((
32D is a lovely size minxy
I was going to say, my ribs were still a bit sore/bigger than normal for a least a couple of months, but I now also wear a 32 and my measurement is about 30inches I think, and I always wear new bras on the loosest hooks.
Glad you've got it all sorted now anyway. x
