When to come off the pill pre b.a and on post?
Hello, I'm not sure what the recommendation is for when to stop taking the pill before the op? Also how long til you should re-start it again post op? I'm on the pill Clairette which is virtually the same as Dionette.
Thank you girls!!

You should ask your surgeon hun, they will tell you whether you even need to come off the pill.

Hi, I came off the pill (Microgynon) for a month starting 2 weeks before my op. Best to check with your surgeon though, as the advice re this does vary a lot. Xx

Hi, you need to have stopped the Pill for a month before surgery. I'm not sure about afterwards, so please check when you go in for your op. xx

ps this advice should NOT vary between plastic surgeons, you come off the Pill cos of the risk of blood clots having surgery on it, and it IS a months and everyone should stop (whether they do or not is another matter...)

mistyhoney - this advice is for people on the Pill as taking the Pill slightly increases your risk of developing blood clots, which is higher when you have surgery, and thought to be too risky if you have surgery with the pill still in your system.
