PIP IMPLANTS - MY EXPERIENCE
Hello Ladies !
This is my 1st post here on this wonderful forum so please bear with me. I will post in the INTRODUCE yourself section too.
I had silicon implants back in 2004, 270 cc cohesive PIP implants. I have had no problems at all until October last year when i noticed a small lump in my right armpit. The doctor checked me over and examined my breasts to check the implant etc but said all seemed fine and that the lump was a lymph node that was a little enlarged. He advised me to keep an eye on the lump for any changes or if it got bigger. About 2 months ago (May 2011) i noticed the lump had grown to what felt the size of a mandarin orange, feels very protruding and i noticed a slight droop in my right breast. I did wonder if the implant had ruptured last year but the doctor assured me all was ok and he said the implants felt "intact". I was referred by my doctor 2 weeks ago to see a breast surgeon at my local hospital - after a mammogram and 2 detailed ultra sounds of my breasts and armpits they have told me that my right implant has definately ruptured and is leaking silicon into my lymph gland in armpit and my left implant has also ruptured and there appears to be small lumps of silicon attaching to the left lymph node of my left armpit.
I am now awaiting my appointment to see the breast surgeon (NHS) at the hospital to decide an outcome - she did mention that the implants would have to be removed as soon as possible which i cannot wait for as i am worried sick of the thought that the silicon is floating around and attaching itself to upper torso parts and who knows what damage it can do, even though the doctor has said there is no health risks!
Thank you for reading and i hope to read/post more here with you ladies and if any of you have had a similar experience please share with me.
Take care

Aw hun sorry to read you have the horrible pip implants. Have you told the breast clinic you have the pip implants and that they have been removed from the market. It's horrible that this is happening to you. Wish you all the best

Hi Missf, yes i have but tbh its of no real interest to them as i paid to have my augmentation & implants privately in 2004. I cannot thank the hospital & NHS enough as so far they have been fab with hwo quick they have seen me for an appointment & mammogram plus 2 detailed ultrasounds of both breasts and armpits.
They have concluded that both implants have definately ruptured and the right implant moreso. There is sillicon leakage into both lymph nodes in armpits with the right one being very sizeable and achey.
I have already made contact with Hugh James solicitors.

Re: PIP IMPLANTS - MY EXPERIENCE
In wales hun I think the welsh assembly announced yesterday they will be helping people with pips on the nhs but you have to go back to your original surgeon/clinic first. If they will not help you then have to go to your gp who will refer you for implant removal on the nhs. I'm not sure but I think in wales they may be replacing the implants as well, but I'm not sure, I only caught the last bit of it on the news yesterday
My PIP Implants
Hi All,
I have just joined the site. I found out yesterday from Transform that the implants I had put in in 2004 are PIP! At first I was a bit stunned as the news sunk in, I wouldn't have been that concerned but for the fact that I have swollen lymph glands and nodes also. I was referred to a specialist breast clinic here in Liverpool last year. They carried out a very careful ultrasound but could find no rupture? there appears to be no other reason why these glands and nodes are swollen, blood tests etc; I am now very worried and am too awaiting my appt with Transform. I note that the head of Transform has said that it is not their fault as they believed the implants to be ok but how can they be when the MHRA did not do their job properly. We are now left in the situation that if we have symptoms we can have them removed for free whoopee!!! BUT has anybody realised the psychological impact this will have on us women (no, except for Wales, lucky girls in Wales!!). Anyway I cannot afford to replace them and I don't see why I should foot the bill for 'someones' negligence. I had this op in good faith!!!!!!!!!!!! I fully support legal action and I WILL be looking into.
