Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Hello,
Its me, had my surgery this morning, so glad I've finally done it and that it has so far ran smoothly, no pain at all, and the GA has left me in a drowsy state all day (which I like)
However, 2 ques/probs.
The hosp and staff were OK, apart from them constantly coming in asking if I wanted my food when I was clearly trying to sleep and not 'with it' plus there was a constant loud beep coming from the corridors. Now at a hotel.
Anyway, the last time I saw my surgeon was when he drew on me, I thought I'd see him in theater or after the op to see how I was, if I was pleased or if I had any questions. So bit miffed about that. Especially as I'm a bit worried of the big gap between my boobs, I want to push them together to see what they could look like in a bra but I'm worried it will ruin my scar area?? Does anyone know if when they settle they will become closer? Coz if not I doubt I can ever go braless coz they will look stupid, could prob fit another boob between them!
Other quest, at 4pm one of the nurses came in and said 'do u want to leave now?' In a tone of voice that said 'please leave now!' So I said ok, she told me to hand in this form at recep on my way out and goodbye. Then that was me left on my own, I thought they at least maybe give scar advice or help me choose which sportsbra to wear, so I put on the 34D which I think fits the boobs? Maybe its tight on my scars? I actually have no idea? Now I'm worried that what if I've not done it right?
If anyone has any words of wisdom that could help or put my mind at rest, coz now that I'm coming round from the GA I am thinking I should have asked them all this but I was literally high off the aneasthetic.
Oh, I had 380 overs xxx

So sorry that you have been left feeling a bit lost Immie. I had my BA yesterday. The nursing staff were very good but I only saw my surgeon briefly after the op when I was totally out of it still. I was expecting to see him this morning but he did not come to th hospital. I won't see him till end of August now - and my boobs are looking a bit weird! Rach x

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Thankyou x
They wer'nt 'bad' or anything, but could have been slightly more caring, one of the women were really nice.
When they were telling me to check out they explained the anti biotics and pain killers but nothing at all about scars or what bra to put on, for all they knew I might not have even got a bra. I should have asked all this but I was so drowsy, nearly fell over when I walked down the corridor! But I felt like they wanted me out and as I was a day case I thought I better had! X

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
When I woke up I saw my surgeon briefly but was still flying high so when I came around fully I asked to speak to him again as I wasn't too pleased wit a few things. It's horrible feeling a bit neglected after something that means so much to u. Maybe give them a call and say u have a few questions as u weren't yourself leaving. I had to push for info off the hospital I went wit but don't forget u gave them alot of money so get the info u want. Hope u get the ans u want off them Hun, jus put ur foot down x

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
I was told what size bra before my op day, but I had so many, I just wore what I felt was comfortable. I also had a massive gap, as they settle they will come closer together and you should be left with the same size gap you had pre BA. Congrats on your new boobs.
Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Thankyou girls.
I think I'll ring them in the morning before I leave the hotel.
All this lying on my back won't be helping the gap situation either, what if they settle like that coz of the amount of time I'll be spending on my back?!x

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
congrats on the new boobs Immie!
Dont worry about the gap, just give them time they will come together, and just enjoy resting and laying on your back it wont make a difference.
I would give the clinic a call about the scars as every ps seems to have a different reccomendation as to how they want the scars treated.
Happy healing hunny!

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
I would check with your ps on that too...
I had strapping on my boobs for like 2 weeks so they were covered up but once the strapping came off I was told to rub bio oil on the boobs but avoid the scars. x

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Congrats, Imme!!!
I'm sorry that you had less than optimal post-BA care, but regarding your gap, from what I've read and seen, your boobs will change A LOT in the next 2 weeks (swelling will go down) to 3 months (dropping, fluffing, and settling!) Don't worry one bit as to how they look now. They will look much more natural soon!
Congrats again!!! You did it!

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Congrats on ur new boobies!
Don't worry about the gap- mine were literally in my armpits for about 2 weeks then when they started settling the did move together :-)
Ask ur ps about creaming them up though as I wa strapped up for 7 days- so could cream after then- but nothing at all on my scars till 6 weeks. Every clinic is different huni... Rest up now. Xxx

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
Lying on your back won't affect the gap but walking around is good for you post op. You should be able to rub cream in them now. Just nothing on your scars

Re: Post Op'ers... a few questions!
i saw my surgeon about 2 hours after my op, and about 2 nurses helped me put on my bra. I find it slightly odd they left you to do it...i dont think i would have done it on my own! Congrats on the new boobs tho hun, and the gap will get less n less as you recover, so dont worry xxx
