Re: Anesthesia?!
I have had 2 operations that I needed to be put to sleep for (only one was my BA). They are very simple and very quick. They simply put a canula in your hand they put the anesthetic through this, you may feel a cold sensation in your hand/arm funny taste in your mouth and if your like me you cough lol. Then you wake up in recovery all done. I only woke up with an oxygen mask on, and I kept taking it off.
Re: Anesthesia?!
Thats the part that scares me the most too! But I've done it twice now. They do an IV in my arm and if I'm nervous they give me a Valium so I'm not scared - it makes me not care at all - like they could tell me they're putting my implants under my eyelids and I'd just smile and say "Cool! Can I watch???"
Then when the anesthesia starts to drip in it makes you kinda cold and they say count to ten but I never make it past two and then I wake up with a sore throat from the tube and feel grouchy and really cold. It's like time just stopped

Re: Anesthesia?!
its nothin to worry about!! i walked down to theatre with the nurse, who was lovely and friendly.i lay on the bed and they didnt use a mask or anything, they just put the canula in my hand (didnt hurt at ALL!) then they put anti sickness in and then the GA, i could feel a wet and cold sensation running up my arm ( so weird!) n then i felt like i had had one too many drinks! he he, everything went a bit swimmy n then i was out. Woke up in recovery in what felt like 2 mins later.lolI didnt have a mask at all at any point, whether they used one during th op, i dont know!

Re: Anesthesia?!
I was most worried about the moment when they put the GA in - thought I would start feeling like I was losing control and panic. It was nothing like that though! They put some relaxing stuff in first which made me feel nice and sleepy, and I had fallen asleep before I knew anything else had gone in. And it didn't feel weird at all - it was just like falling asleep and waking up again naturally. If you're worried just ask for something to relax you. Good luck, hope you have a good experience with it like I did!

Re: Anesthesia?!
I didnt think I was worried about this, but when I got into surgery and lay on the table i started shaking and my eyes started filling with tears. The doc said he'd give me something to calm me down through the canula. After that I remember being really happy and relaxed. I dont remember the GA being administrated and seconds later (it seemed like) i was awake with new boobs :)

Re: Anesthesia?!
The last time I had GA they put some special cream on the back of my hand about an hour before my op & it totally numbed my hand so I couldn't feel anything when they put the cannula in. Try not to worry about it, I hate needles to but it was honestly fine x x

Re: Anesthesia?!
It really is fine and nothing to worry about. It is actually a really nice feeling as you start to drift off. Obviously the needle in the hand bit is not particularly pleasant but it is soooo quick and over in a flash. Try not to get too worried about it x

Re: Anesthesia?!
Helloooo,
Im terrified of anthesetic as I'm allergic to Proprofol which is an added ingredient to the GA. When I met the anesthetist I gave him my letter from my hospital records stating my weirdness lol and he found an alternative method and ingredient for me. I have always had the drug administered through the back of the hand but on ths occasion i had it through a mask. They still had to put a canula into my hand but they done this whilst i had the mask on, before i knew it i was waking up and everything was all done :-)
Basically however you feel or whatever difficulties you have (like me lol) they will always find a way to accommodate you
Best wishes
