Sports bra's and support bra's???
Hi All,
I have been rapidly buying all i need for the big day (and if I haven't mentioned it enough its 19 days time :0) ) however i am struggling to get hold of post surgery or support bras in a 32DD/E.
I have ordered a few sports bra's but not sure if this is enough??
Has anyone else had the same problem?? and assist with pointing me in the right direction. Last thing I want is a lack of support.
Many Thanks
xx

Hi jen
Oo I bet your really excited about ur BA!! Its over soo quick so enjoy it!
With the bras I was told to get the shock absorber bras, I brought them and also a macom post op bra.
I have worn the post op bra once as the sports bras to me give me the most support!
Its very ugly and big but it feels sooo good and secure I know that my new lovelys aren't going anywhere!!
What size u having?
Good Luck xx

Hi Flossy,
Im so excited the day just can't come soon enough.
Glad you suggested the shock absorbers as that is what i have ordered and saves me sending them back, do you know if they are fine to wear straight after the op?
I will be hopefully a 32 DD after the op, currently an empty 32C (thats what breast feeding a child does). Hope you don't mind me asking, what size were you before and after the op??? have you healed okay?? were you in much pain?? Sorry for all the questions but would like to fully know the process, good and bad.
Thank you

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
Whether you will wear a sportbra immediately post-op will be entirely up to your surgeon, so if you don't know hun, it's best to give them a ring, some surgeons prefer their ladies to go braless for a while, some to wear a breastband and others straight in the bra.
If you do have to wear a bra for your BA day, I'd just buy some cheap supportbras from Asda or anywhere else you can can get a fairly decent supportbra at a cheap price, if you're expected to reach a 32DD, I'd buy 3 bras - A 32DD, A 34DD and a 32E.
This covers extra swelling about the band area, or extra swelling arounf the bust area, if you keep your reciept you can always take the ones you don't use back... after a week or two, when you're up to it, then go shopping for a 'high impact' supportbra, the shock absorbers are great in the size you need... xx

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
19 days!! Well that's a lot of time to get ready! I didn't buy my bras until the day before!! (don't do like I did though...)
Seriously, the size won't actually matter too much as long as it's close. Firstly you don't actually know how big you'll be exactly, secondly it will never be a 'perfect fit' as your breasts look and feel so wrong anyway immediately after surgery. With sports/support bras it's not really a precision fit anyway. I have 4 bras all of which are slightly different sizes, and all four are usable and in fact I alternate between all of them. I would say get the closest you can get. I could not get the specific size I wanted, it was sold out everywhere. The slightly bigger band size was available though, and it feels just fine. Also remember that after about a week you'll probably fit enough to go shop for more anyway, just in case what you have is really not comfortable enough!

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
I am just so excited and have waited so long for this, just cant wait for the day I finally have the operation.
Must say there is definitely a gap in the market for nicer post op bra's but as i have been told its not a fashion show and they need to recover so for now i have opted for the sports bras, only as these are the only ones I can find in a 32DD and 32E.
I would have loved to have brought the M and S or Asda bra's as they are the cheaper option and from what I gather they do the job???
The surgeon seem to think that a 32 DD would suit my frame and this is what size I have brought and got a 32E to accommodate the post op swelling.
I am having over's and not under's am I right in thinking that there is no strapping down with a band??
d_whpl - can I ask how the op went?? I know you have had under's but was there a lot of swelling and are you wearing the size support/ sports bra that you were advised to buy??
Cookie - Thank you for the advice, I will get a 34DD just to be on the safe side. I know this is a stupid question but I have to ask, how come some ladies go without a bra post op?? does it matter on the position of the implant??
Thanks ladies for the responses.

You'll find a lot of conflicting advice from the different surgeons hun, this may be down to individual healing, or it may be down to the surgeons simply having differing opinions on healing crazy I know, but they really do!
Just be sure to follow the post-op advice of your own surgeon babe, if follow others advice at any time through your recovery you may make any after-care you have void hun.
It also gets a little confusing lol so best to just stick with what you're told. xx
Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
Ahhhh bless you, Thank you for the advice. I have been told to buy support bra's but due to the limited size range I had to go for the sports bra. I will give the consultant lady a call on Tuesday to be sure what to do for the best.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
i was a 32a (very small) and had 360cc unders, my nurse told me to buy the shockabsorbers in a 34d and a 34dd which i did and when i woke up from surgery i was wearing the 34dd. I was sooooo swollen all around my sides, most of it went down in the first 2 days so i swapped and put the 34d on. Luckily when i got them there was a sale on in debenhams so they was half price as they are quite pricey!
I didnt have any pain at all.. i was amazed as i am a real wuss.
They gave me very strong painkillers i was taking about 16 painkillers a day but by the 3rd day i stopped taking them all and just continued with my antibiotics. I really was like a zoombie for the first few days and i didnt like the feeling, i couldny understand what people wear saying to me and my eyes where all dazey LOL!
Todays the first day iv been out i went to lakeside and looked around at all the nice bikinis thinking ill get this one when i know what size ill be soooooo excited!
I dont go back until the 9th when i have my bandages from my scars removed and then again a month after to see the surgeon!
Im really pleased so far, especially now most of my swellings gone and they dont look bigger than my head haha!
what ccs has your surgeon recommended for you?

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
Wow, does it feel strange having larger boobs?? The surgeon suggested 310cc maybe a 340cc however I went to the consultation knowing exactly what size i would ideally like to be, just hoping i don't end up with the Katie Price look. There is nothing wrong with the look, they are just massive lol.
I have asked the surgeon for a more rounded and higher look am slightly worried about the double bubble look however he is the surgeon and he seems to think he will achieve a good look so it will be a slight waiting game now.
I just can't wait to get the vaa vaa voom back into them.
When did you have the op?? did you find mobility and simple tasks ok in the first few days?? I have a six year old little girl who is Miss Independent however i need to know how long to ask her Nanny to help out lol.
I 'm sure you can't wait for the 3 month post op check up and then you will know your size and the shopping can commence.

Lindsay
I was so swollen round the sides but everyones different.. i would definately get one in a bigger band size if you can. its still abit swollen now but nowhere near as bad thank god! Im normally a 32 but they put the 34 on me and it was on the last hook lol!!
You may not be as bad tho hun
Jen
It feels FANTASTIC having some big bobbies!!! (even tho they are a weird shape still haha) i keep looking at myself in the mirror and i can actually see boobs now im not just straight up straight down lol!!
i also got really bloated after my op my belly was about the same size as my new additions haha wasnt a good look at all! glad thats all sorted itself out now LOL!
I had my operation on tuesday and even tho i was drugged up on painkillers i still got up and did things, nothing strenuous but i didnt sit in bed and watch tele even tho i had planned to.. i defo had enough energy to boss a 6yr old around
his giving you quite big implants considering your already a c? im not sure tho i know that it all works differently for everyone..
Are you both feeling nervous? i remember being so scared!! i even cried when they put the thingy in my hand lmao!!!!

Re: Sports bra's and support bra's???
Ahhh its well worth it then ha ha.
Can't say I am nervous just yet, Im just really excited. I have wanted this for so long however i think once I get the full conformation pack then it will really hit home.
Ummm not looking forward to the swelling and bloating however I think seeing myself with no nails and make up will be a distraction lol. I am never without false nails.
I am pleased to hear your up and about after 4 days, did you have to force yourself?? are you still taking pain killers??
Yep i am a C but they need filling. My friend had a 360cc which took her from a D cup to what should have been a full DD cup however on a recent bra shopping trip she measured an F cup, definitely wouldn't want to be that big.
Did you go for the natural look or are your higher profile??? sorry for being nosey.

i painted my nails as sooooon as i got back from the hospital no word of a lie haha i hated having bare nails!
To be honest woth you i never really felt any pain there was a little discomfort but i could have got up and gone out if id had to, im really suprised at how much i could do for myself, alot of girls on here lose the use in their arms and have to 'bum shuffle' LOL!!
i stopped taking my painkillers after about 2 days lol! i was soooo drugged up i hated it so i thought i would stop and then just take them if i really needed to and today is my second day without them and i feel so much better! I was as high as a kite on them
I asked for the most naturalist look i could get and the biggest i could go so he gave me 360cc unders and the teardrop shape.
iv got my fingers crossed that they turn out ok!
Lindsay today i have walked up and down lakeside about a millions times! did get a bit of a backache but walking is fine.. im not sure about driving tho iv been told not to drive for 2 weeks..? some girls do drive sooner tho

Hi!Little jen wrote:d_whpl - can I ask how the op went?? I know you have had under's but was there a lot of swelling and are you wearing the size support/ sports bra that you were advised to buy??
My op went well, I am really pleased with the size I chose as they look a nice package without being excessively eye-catching. There is still a lot of upper pole fullness that has to go down, but in clothes they look really nice!
To be honest I can't really tell whether there was swelling or not. There must have been. But without seeing any bruising outside or any other obvious signs, well, you have two foreign bodies now inside you blowing up your size and stretching your skin really tight, and, well... I found it really hard to separate the overall size increase from the possible effect of swelling!
To be honest I haven't really received much in the way of advice form the surgeon or nurse on what size exactly to buy. I have asked to be a 36C, and I think I have ended up being quite close to that. I couldn't find bras anywhere in that size though, so I have a 38 band and a 40 band instead, from Asda. I also have two sports bra in 'medium' size (no specific cup size) that are in fact my favourites, the most comfortable. I would advise you to buy at least one of those too (in addition to the others), as they are more stretchy and fit a wider range of boob sizes.
Re: pain killers, yes they make me drowsy and a bit zombie-like but boy do I like opioids. If I ever tried Heroin I'd be hooked instantly. So, enjoy them, don't abuse them, just don't be scared by them as they're actually quite nice!

Flossy, Did you rattle when you walked? That is a lot of tablets to be taking however it will be worth it.
My plan was to take false nails with me and stick them on once the operation is over??? Hopefully if I do it quick the painkillers will still be working their magic and it wont be to difficult.
I hope all the shopping yesterday didn't take it out of you.

I would love to buy the £4 however they don't do my size. I went onto e-bay and purchased some Level 4 sports bra's for £10.99. Thought it was a good price as they are usual £30.
I'll will try Matalan
