7days post op - boobs too far apart :-( Empty 7days post op - boobs too far apart :-(

Post by Drea 27th April 2011, 9:47 am

Hey girls
Had my 7days post op check at the clinic yesterday and have came home in tears....

I am healing well and everything is going fine in that area.

BUT the nurse said my boobs are sitting very far apart (big space in the middle) I didnt even notice this until she has now mentioned it.
She advised i could start to wear an underwired bra now!
I didnt think this was allowed at just one week after the op????? shrug
So confused and upset.

Has anyone else had this problem, is there anything i can do to help close the gap between my boobs?
Should i start to wear an underwired bra already?

Hate these sports bras but im so scared an underwired bra will do even more damage..... and not give me enough support.
However i only had small 200cc implants, is this the reason??

Took me long enough to find sports bra in a 28/30 band; the search for comfy underwired bras is going to be a nightmare nope never mind the cost grrr.
Any advice would be very helpful....
Sorry for the moan; just something i wasnt expecting to hear yesterday.

Aw babe dont be disheartened, I too thought mine were very far apart in the early days and i couldnt even push them together to get proper cleavage, but as time has gone on they are closer now and they are MUCh softer so can push them together.

Try not to worry babe, youre sooo early post op just take the advice from the clinic and dont stress - Perfect boobs are a waiting game

Ps I am a 30 back and M&S have lots in :)

Good idea jen i'll give her a ring.
She seemed a bit annoyed with me yesterday, maybe coz of working over easter who knows.... but wasnt the usual friendly manner they gave me pre-ba.
Just feeling un-informed now and confused as to what bra etc im actually supposed to be wearing (and hope to goodness ive not done any lasting damage wearing these sports bras BUT everyone else seems to have to wear them - ohhh confused.com)
I was in love with my new boobs and now i look at them and think gee are they really that far apart :tears:

Hope your doing good hun xx

Thing is wherever you boobs were pre op they will still be there post op.

Re the underwire bra all surgeons have different views I was told no bra AT ALL for 6 weeks but littlewisher on here (am sure she wont mind me saying) had unders same as me and i think she was put in an underwired bra pretty much straightaway .

What did your surgeon say? :) x

I havent seen the surgeon since BA day and there policy is i dont see him again until 8weeks post op.
To be honest i would feel happier seeing him again to sort out what i am and am not supposed to be wearing.
I was only told pre ba to bring a 28 bra to the hospital - i assumed this was a sports bra. Looks like a case of me not asking enough questions and being underinformed shrug
The gap between them never bothered me before and its something that never even crossed my mind until the nurse pointed it out yesterday.....
Going to ring the clinic now and see xx
Thanks chick

Hey hun. Mine sat really wide apart (and right under my armpits) I couldn't move them for love nor money but now as u can see in my avatar they have naturally moved together...

Hope that reassure u chick but I recommend getting in contact with ur clinic just to have the reassurance too.

I have my picture trail if u want to see how much my 'twins' changed xxxx

Mine are naturally wide apart, maybe if you hadn't noticed, then your boobs naturally sit like that? However, I would be worried that it wasn't your surgeon that advised you to do this. Give them a ring and ask to see him asap. Your nurse might be right, but I would get the go ahead from your surgeon.

Stuff the policy babe!

Your nurse is not qualified to be giving you post-op advice if she feels there may be a problem hun, she should refer you back to the surgeon, afterall, this is the person you paid alot of money to for after-care and their expert opinion!

Call the clinic, you're causing no trouble sweetie, you have a right to see your surgeon at any time throughout your recovery should you need to.

Your nurse has pointed out your breasts look very far apart, you don't want her opinion on this now hun, you want that of the expert and no-one elses hunni.

please let us know how you get on and don't panic! Most of these things are just early post-op teething probs, so wait and see what your SURGEON says babe. xx

Thanks girls.
I rang the clinic (in a bit of a state) and the nurse appologised for causeing me any worry.
Bit late for that!!!
She said its the PS who prefers an underwired bra right from day 1 after the op. for all his patients HuH first i heard of this....
She just appologised again shrug

I'm still not happy with the answers/explanation about the space inbetween my boobs esp. when i didnt think there was any issue; and annoyed about the whole bra situation.

The surgeons not back into the clinic until next week so ive another wait on my hands.... but at least will get some proper answers.

I'd love a little look please lola if you dont mind.
Your avatar looks fab.
Coz my implants are only small i dont think i can acheive a full clevage at any stage BUT i wasnt bothered about this at all.
Now that the space has been pointed out to me geeee i dont know what to think.
Just hope its not due to me having been wearing the wrong bra etc.

Will know better when the surgeon has a look at them i guess.... just have to wait. xx

Hi hun, sorry for the late reply, have been offline for a few days.
My boobs were REALLY far apart in the first few weeks PO. It was due to swelling and bruising in the middle and my nurse ALSO commented on it, and how much one nipple pointed one way and the other pointed the other way growl Made me a bit paranoid, but I just decided to ride it out until the swelling was gone. Well, I can say now at over 6 weeks PO, the last bit of swelling has gone from inbetween my cleavage and my boobs are finally pointing in the right direction and are much more closer.
I can also show you some pics if you want chick.
Let us know what your PS says cos he's the only one who can completely reassure you xxx

Thanks for all the kind replys; feeling much more upbeat today.
I have finally started to see a change in the shape of my boobies - nipples are starting to look forwards rather than out the the sides aswell phew.
You are so right flowergirl - i've been totally paranoid about the space and shape, and being told about the bra thing just sent me over the edge.
Getting my sainity back slowly Hysterical
Seeing the surgeon again next week, he has to fit me in.
Thats the trouble with all these bank holidays.

Yes please i'd love a look at your pics - may help reasure me that these boobies have some more changes to make xx
