Post op Sleeping
Hello fellow BA ladies.
Just a few questions -
How did you cope with sleeping on your back and not naturally turning on your side i am really worried about this?
The best support Bra to get?
Coping after the first 2 weeks when i go back to work (i run a very busy restaurant) and my surgeon told me i have to have minimum movement?
Thats it i think, most questions have been answered on here already.
Thank you
a very nervous/excited lady

Re: Post op Sleeping
I usually sleep on my side, I was ok sleeping on my back but I was desperate to go onto my side I found it uncomfortable when I tried lol. I propped myself up with a V pillow (argos £7) and that stopped me going on to my side and waking myself up. I did get back ache but I took painkillers and used a hot waterbottle to ease the achey muscles.
I found the asda sports bras to be fine, a lot of girls go for the M&S one. I also invested in a Z bra which is quite expensive but I still wear it now for sports.
As for work you should be ok as long as you dont do any heavy lifting. Delegate what you can.

Thank you very much I will go and get a V shape pillow and some hot water bottles, and lots of pain killers :-).
I think I may get a mixture of bra's so I can see what suits me best. The price we pay for nicer boobies I guess.
Delegations brilliant my staff are going to love me :)
Did you find your BA take a while to settle I know its different for everyone.
thanks sharon x

Re: Post op Sleeping
It took a few months for my boobs to settle after my BA. But they didn't look weird in tops or anything. I could hide their fake lookingness quite easily. Dont worry about the pain killers too much, they give you loads after your op.
Re: Post op Sleeping
Hi Sharon,
I found this to actually be the most painful part of the operation - I am a side sleeper, but my surgeon just told me to sleep in a semi inclined position for a minimum of two nights, but more if I could manage it. By Day 3 my back was killing me, so I started decreasing the number of pillows and by Day 5 I was down to just 1 and then onto my side.
The odd thing is, if I wake up now, I find that I'm sometimes on my back - how weird is that LOL.
I've got a very, very comfortable M&S sports bra (back fastening) - but you might prefer one of the front fastening ones from M&S.
Your movement will be a little restricted post operatively - especially if you have to reach up for anything and you will find lifting anything heavy will be difficult at first too.
xx

Re: Post op Sleeping
I slept propped up for 3 days before I ended up pushing myself flat on my back in the night. I'm usually a side sleeper so I did find it abit uncomfortable but managed to fall alseep! But when i was 4 days post op, I attempted to sleep on my side, It was abit uncomfortable at first but eventually found the right position and it was heaven and I've fell asleep on my side every night since but do end up back on my back halfway though as my boobs still get a little bit heavy, and I'm really scared of doing some damage and they decide to move out to the side!
As for bras, I havent had to wear one yet so not much help! But I have got the sports bra from asda and my nurse said they are perfect for when I do need to wear them and they are only £4. But I am going to get one from M&S aswell, just because the ones i brought from asda are too big.

Re: Post op Sleeping
I normally sleep on my side and alternate sides throughout the night, which sometimes wakes me up - after my BA, I slept on my back (managed to get to sleep fine), stayed on my back and generally stayed asleep all night - it's like my body knew it would be painful to lie to the side, so didn't, until now when I can sleep on my side - I still find though that I sleep better in a sports bra - it's like my comfort blanket!

Re: Post op Sleeping
Snap Jellytot, I also find sleeping in either one of my Asda post surgical bras or a sports bra as when I don't, if I lie on my side I can get a pain in my boob which is next to the mattress, but this doesn't happen if I wear a bra.
