smoking b4 ba
Hi girls,
I'm not much of a smoker only when I'm drinking at weekends. I know they say you shouldn't smoke a month before or drink a couple of weeks before B/A. I can go fine without either, the only thing is I was away this weekend just gone and whilst there I was drinking and had a few fags, not loads just in the evening whilst having a drink on friday and sat. Why is it they say not to? Is it to do with the G/A or the healing? I'm sure it aint a big deal as I'm only a occasional smoker, but just worry as they say not to. I have just under 2 weeks until my op now and I wont be drinking or smoking from now on.
Thanks Kirsty. xx

i think smoking can give a false reading of how much oxygen is in your blood, hence why they say not to smoke before any operation.
Obviously thats just one reason theres plenty of others lol
I was a smoker & i'm in the process of tryna give up now ;-)

I always wondered why..thanks tekarma (even though I'm not a smoker) all I know is my PS said it can cause complications and he refuses to operate on anyone who does..but I'm sure you'll be fine, I would think it's mainly geared around people who smoke daily

Hi Kirsty..
The main reasons not to smoke is the GA shallows your breathing and if your a smoker your breathing is shallower than a non smoker...
It can also slow down healing and cause CC which could ruin your new boobies :-(
I smoked 20+ a day and 2 weeks ago stopped with the aid of patches so it is possible for your boobies sake!xxxx

Thanks girls. I can go without smoking, its just when I'm having a drink that i fancy one, so its not that often. I was just a bit worried as while away this weekend I had a few and felt guilty cause of it, but its not like I go away all thetime and wanted to enjoy it! Thats it now, I'm drink and smoke free waiting for my boobies. :heehee:

Re: smoking b4 ba
Congrats lola!
Smoking can really impact the result of your BA, I don't smoke but I know that I did everything possible to ensure the money I was paying for my boobs was going to be worth it!
Giving up smoking can only help your recovery, plus won't make you smell and all that money you save on fags can be spent on new bras!
