Pain in one boob more then the other?? Anyone?
Hi, I am 8 days post op now with 340hp overs. I seem to be having more discomfort with my left boob over my right one. I am trying to take things as easy as possible but its kinda hard with a 3 year old to look after.
I have not lifted her but have been doing things such as light cleaning, washing up, washing clothes etc.
I am thinking as I am left handed and used my left arm more than my right to do things this might be why is seems to hurt more.
I really am finding it hard at the moment as I know I am supposed to ease off doing certain things but its so hard as I'm a mum and resting up hardly exists. I am so paranoid that I am going to do some damage to my new boobs!!
Some reassurance would be lovely right now.... xxx

sorry to hear you are worried SJG.
I am pre op but have read lots of girls on here saying one hurts more than the other and to treat each boob as separate operation, therefore one will probably change/heal faster than the other.
Hope that helps until someone with some experience comes along!
Completely understand about resting up - you can never rest with kids!xx

I know it's really hard hun but you do have to try to rest up. I overdid things at first and found myself getting very very sore. Is there someone who can help with the cleaning/washing for a few days? I know it's hard with kids but you need to give yourself time to heal.
It does get easier hun and soon you'll be feeling back to normal.

Aww hunnie, it's normal to feel like you do at this early stage in your recovery, it's certainly normal to be stressing over doing too much, too soon (I bet everyone on here felt the same) as long as your not really straining to do something you shouldn't do them any harm. Their more robust than you think!!!!
There is usually always a difference in swelling and always a difference in the level of pain between one breast and the other. This is particularly true if different procedures were done on each breast. Keep a few notes so you can discuss your concerns with your PS when you next see him.
If you are left-handed hun then that could be why your feeling more discomfort because your 'using' that side more to do things, although I'm right-handed but my left boob was more uncomfortable and took longer to relax than the right so I don't think this is an exact science.
Just to conclude, take it as easy as you CAN.....being a mum doesn't really allow for this I know but leave things that are not important, just until your feeling more able to cope, but you are still really early on in the healing process hun so don't worry too much. It's all normal and it does get easier, promise!!

Aww I'm sure this is normal hun. I'm very aware that I'm also using my left arm more than my right (even though I'm actually right handed), and as a result my left side has felt a little more stiff.
I've already had to pick up a chunky little 8 month old from the floor as she was screaming, and I really wish that I didn't! If you're worried you're doing too much, then it probably is a good idea to take it a little bit easier. Even if this means letting a bit of washing pile up for a couple of days or maybe even encouraging your little one to put clothes in the washing machine for you. (My son loves doing this for whatever reason). I bet a couple of days of resting as much as you can and you'll feel so much better for it!!

Thank you everyone! I feel a bit better knowing I am not alone.
I really am trying to take it easy. I have not lifted my daughter at all and have had lots of help from my mum when it comes to bathing my little one etc.
I havent driven yet, but even when I shut the door of the car the other day I felt pain after...
lindylou22 - how on earth did you pick up your little one?! I hope you are OK. Thanks for the idea on getting my daughter to help me, I will def be giving it a go. xxx

Good luck hun. My son is only 2 1/2, but it's surprising how helpful they can actually be, and how much they actually enjoy getting involved when they have the chance! He even has his own little toy dyson because he likes pretending to hoover when we're hoovering!! lol.
I don't really know how I managed to lift her to be honest, she was laying on the floor, and her rocker chair was right next to her, so I kind of just sat her up and then hoisted her into her chair, but I didn't lift my forearms above elbow height. I definitely wouldn't recommend it though! I totally sympathise with you having a little one to run around after. They're massively demanding and it's hard to feel like you're able to recuperate properly without also feeling like you're neglecting them!

Hey Girl,
I just had my surgery yesterday and I noticed right after I had a bit more pain in one nipple way more than the other. My nurse said that that usually happens and is perfectly normal. So no worries, you are right on track.

Yes, your nurse is right Elle. You need to think of it as being two separate operations and so each will heal at its own distinct pace and in its own unique way. So it is very common to find different sensations in each breast. Absolutely normal, you will be pleased to hear.

My right one hurt more straight after the operation, and has continued to give me more grief than the left. The incision stings sometimes too, but the left is fine with no discomfort at all! My PS said this is totally normal, the nerves will react differently on each side. Nothing to worry about Hun xx

Re: Pain in one boob more then the other?? Anyone?
Hi
I had my BA on tuesday and my left is definitely more painful than my right. I am too left handed and I think that its just doing more and more things than with the right. You cant help it. I have reached to get stuff and helped my toddler play and do stuff, all with my left. So today I am going to try really hard to use my right hand for stuff and give the left side a rest. Sure we will be fine x
