Hi - I'm new to this site (really happy I found it!), and hoping someone can give me some advice.
I'm having my BA on the 4th March at Spire Murrayfield hospital. My surgeon Mr. Kevin Hancock has suggested I go over the muscle and I've said I'd like to go large C / small D cup size.
At the moment I'm a 34A and size 10 top. I've read that sometimes the implant can be seen and usually this occurs when there's not enough tissue to hide the implant, as I havent got much breast tissue am wondering if I should request to go under the muscle. Can anyone give me advise? I know he's the professional and knows what he's talking about but I dont want them to be too noticable... as I said to him I'm self concious with small breasts but know I will be with large ones too shrug
Any thoughts on this will be greatly received, thanks ladies xx

Hi Betty, if you have any concerns I would go back and have a talk with him and ask him to give his reasons for going for overs (especially in light of you worrying about this). You are paying your surgeon an extremely large amount of money and you need to feel sure that you want what is best for you (and not what might possibly be easier for him).
Have you any idea of what size you would like to be?? You need to let your surgeon know the size (and sometimes it can be difficult to convey this to him so it is always best if you take some pictures in with you of what you would like to look like afterwards) and the shape. The shape is very important as he can use anatomicals (tear shaped implants which will give a more natural slope in the upper pole) or rounds (which will give you more fullness in the top half of your breast).
Have a look at the Natrelle product catalog which you can download by clicking here as this might give you a better idea of what to ask him.

Heya betty, i live on the wirral aslo :P I was going to have a consultation with spire Murrayfield, what are they like? I had this concern also, i had a consultation with sthetix in liverpool and the surgeon there said i have enough tissue for overs also. I always expected them to suggest unders because i also have small breasts ( about a 34b ). I think because you don't want to go really big, it'll be fine to get overs. For the size you want, i'd say an implant around 280-300cc's would be about right. I really wouldn't worry, you're not wanting to go huge so i think it'll be fine. You should talk to your surgeon if you still have any worries though. They know best! xxxx

Hi betty, I'm a 34A at the moment and I also want to be a full C/ small D. The PS said I will need unders, and recommended between 300-340cc. He had said if you dont have enough tissue then you may see rippling and the outline of the implant. If your PS has suggested overs then you should have enough tissue. But at the end of the day the decision is all yours, your spending alot of money on this and need to make sure you will be happy. So if your are worried about it then go for unders. Its your choice.
Good luck hun.

Thanks for your messages ladies. I will ask again just to be sure but as you said - he's the surgeon and has done loads of these before so he knows what he's talking about. I will raise concerns I have with the rippling and seeing the outline but as you guys have said I'm not looking to go too big so maybe thats the difference in my case. All I said was I'm looking to be a large c small d, I've come on here and heard a lot of numbers 300-340cc...is this the weight of the implant? I guess I'll have a fair few questions before i go down for the BA Over or under muscle, please help - BA in 20days! 267328 Where are you having yours done Kirsty? Bettyboopo... Spire is so lovely - really friendly clinic and feel well looked after there - I'd recommed a consultation with them. What size are you hoping to go up to? As Carol said you are paying a lot of money for your surgery, so if you need to check that your surgeon understands the look you want, make another appointment. Also something to bear in mind is that some surgeons (I'm not saying yours) prefer to do unders and some prefer overs without truly acting on which is best for the patient/customer, did your surgeon show you a portfolio of pictures of both positions. I think the surgeon should have done a pinch test to see if you had enough breast tissue to cover the implant and this is maybe why he has suggested overs. Ring and make another appointment or see if someone can answer your question by phone - better now than later! Let us know what the answer is. xx

.........I've come on here and heard a lot of numbers 300-340cc...is this the weight of the implant?
Many people express it in ccs, but the Allergan catalog always denote the size as a weight (grams) - however as the specific gravity of the gel used is about 1, then they can be used either way.

Yeah i was thinking of going with them because my mum had a different operation there and she said the same. I was a bit put off at the price of the consultation though, i thought it would be a bit of a waste of money if i decided not to go with them. I'm looking at going to about an E cup. And don't be put off by the whole cc business, it is really confusing but everyone is different and 300cc's for example can look totally different from one person to another. Just ask your surgeon in your next consultation if you can try the implant sizers of to get a feel of the size your after. Surgeons can't accurately say what size you'll be after the BA xxxx

I had unders, but each surgeon has their own preferences, there is a vast majority of girls who have had either or on this site, so you really need to research for yourself what would go better with your lifestyle and look that you are trying for... also maybe see a few different surgeons ask their opinions and reasoning to what they chose so you feel better about your choice

I've had one consultation with the surgeon and he did do the pinch test, said i'd be fine with overs and thats better because the healing time is less and less painful. I will ask him about the rippling effect or actually being able to see the implants as although he said i'd be fine I'm a little worried theres not enough breast tissue to cover them. However maybe there will be because I'm going from an A to a large C so there's not a whole lot of difference. I'm having the op in 12 days! I have to go in at half 7 in the morning so I'm assuming i'll have chance to ask more questions and be sure of things then as i'n not scheduled to have another consultation before the big day! Bettyboopo - Spire is lovely - they have a lot of open evenings to go and see the surgeons first then you can book a paid consultation with them. xxxx

Hi hun, I was a 32A and my surgeon suggested overs, I naturally like you assumed I would need unders, but my surgeon said overs would be best, after research I found that just because you have small breasts doesn't mean you dont have enough tissue for overs. I had 410cc high profile overs taking me from a 32A to 32FF, you can't see the edge of my implant and I have no rippling at all. It's a myth that unders give a more natural result, the only reson for using unders is foir those people who do not have enough breast tissue to cover the implant, if they had overs then yes they would have a visable implant or victoria beckham look. Which would look unatural on them. If you have enough tissue for overs then your surgeon obviuosly feels this will give you the most natural look for you. Both unders and overs have their pros and cons, but if you do not trust your surgeon to give you what you want then yes you should have anither consult with him or another surgeon.

Some girls may find overs are too 'round' for them - usually with large implants, but some find it a much more natural placement. It all depends on your physique, breast tissue, skin thickness, implant size, etc. etc .etc. There is no simple answer that we can give you hun, the surgeon is by far the best person to make this recommendation for you. If you are unsure about your surgeon's decision, why not make an appointment with another surgeon for a second opinion? You should be 100% confident in your surgeon's recommendations before you go ahead xx

Hi... I am having teardrop gummy bears over the muscle. My DR. says they provide a nice natural lift and that it is less painful. I keep reading pros and cons though. Trying not to second guess my decision. Time is getting close!!!

Thanks for all the advice girls. Misf1... your info really helped and it's nice to hear from someone who was my size before and having overs too.I'm having the teardrop shaped inplant and do want them to look as natural as possible, but I'm not going too much bigger and the pinch test worked. The surgeon is great and has been recommended to me by others who I trust. He really is a good guy - I think because I was nervous I didnt ask as many questions and they've popped up now. It's only 10 days until the BA and I'm just panacing I think. Was everything good with yours since? I see you've had them done a year now... I'm so excited! Hattie260... Thanks also for your comments. I couldn't have been more adamant that I wanted the more natural look, I don't want to go too much bigger than I am - just want to feel a bit more womanly and not so flat chested Over or under muscle, please help - BA in 20days! 856466 he said he knew what I wanted and that's what the majority of girls come to him with. I only want to go up a couple of sizes, but yep overs he said would be fine. I'm due in the clinic at 7.30am and will have another 'final' chat with him when he draws on me etc *exciting*! Candycain... I'm having teardrop overs too and my surgeon also said they offer the most natural look and less painful going over the muscle. What size are you and what you hoping to be? 14 days isn't too long to go now!
