Re: breast cancer and breast implants??
not sure if im right or not, so if not someone please correct me, i was told its just as easy, or easier to detect it, they will likely want to do a thorough check first if you have it run in your family pre ba though.

As far as I know it's just as easy to detect but screening with mammogram can be more difficult with implants.

You just have to let the doctors and the mammogram technician know because then they can be more thorough.

I was told to just check for lumps in the same way. And when it come to the age of having mammograms which if it`s 50 i`m only 10 years off soon AAARRRH i will pay and have a scan for piece of mind!.x

Re: breast cancer and breast implants??
I had exactly the same concerns as i had breast cancer in the family. Always found it tricky self-examining for lumps as i was left so empty and slightly lumpy after breast feeding 2 babies. Spoke to my surgeon about this and he said that although they don't advertise it as a reason for having a BA, having implants can actually make it easier to find lumps yourself when self examining as you have a smooth, firm surface (the implant) to push your own tissue against. Went ahead with my BA on 21st December and its absolutely true. I have found it so much easier to self-examine my breasts since. He did say that when i had mamograms in the future I would need to let the examiner know, and they would carry it out in a slightly different way, but that it shouldn't cause any problems.
Hope this helps. Beckyboo
