My mums friend had a breast reduction - paid for and private surgeon. She said the surgeon signed her off from work and her work was just told it was a 'personal' operation.

I am lucky that my manager was very understanding and I can take time off without taking it from my holiday allowance or losing pay. She said she considers it to be entirely medical because these kind of things effect people such a great deal. But I did explain to her that I'm doing it to correct asymmetry, I don't know how she would have reacted if I'd have just said I wanted a boob job.
I am worried about what other people will say in my work place, as my manager is simply going to tell them I won't be in for a while for personal reasons.

I'll bet they'll be coming up with all sorts of gossip for why I'm not there! Maybe if they come up with a good enough suggestion I'll just go along with it haha, let them pick the lie for me!

Wow Malibu, your boss sounds great, so understanding. I too don't want to take too much time off work, so was thinking about a four day weekend, and then back to work on the tuesday. I would like to take advantage of the long weekends coming up but it seems the theatre dates are already booked for then, obviously a popular time to get them done!
Hmm the sick days sounds pretty ideal, but I am pretty sure it would make people concerned or curious and there would be questions. Where as with holiday they would just say 'what did you get up too?' And you could always say you needed a few days to relax. Which is true! haha. I am not that good of a liar, so it is better if I just avoid the situation I think. haha

Hi Ya when I spoke to a surgeon he said that they could provide a doctor note stating I had an operation but the letter wouldn't be headed with the company name (the name it self states they are a cosmetic specialist) but fortunately my surgeon is able to do my ba on a saturday so now I have incorporated time off with the bank holidays coming up in April so I am using 7days of holiday but will be away for 11days therefore not using all my entitlement is your ba a weekend that would save you 2 day right there Hug
