exercising at 5 weeks PO? Empty exercising at 5 weeks PO?

Post by Rach 21st December 2010, 12:35 pm

hi All!

I went to see my surgeon last night and he told me that I am fine to start exercising and wearing underwired bras. Was anyone else given the ok at this stage? I also asked him about using the powerplate, and he said this should be fine too (although he didn't really know what one is), but I am a bit worried that I may do some harm? My right breast is still firmer and larger than the left (sorry to keep going on about it!!!), and I wonder if it is still healing and therefore should be left alone for a while longer. I am doing some gentle stomach exercises as had laser lipo on my tummy, and got a bad back so need to strengthen my core again. Look forward to hearing from anyone who can advise me on this! xxx

Just cos your PS has said you can exercise again doesnt mean you have to if you dont feel ready yet. If you not feeling up to doing much then just go for walks or just use the lower body equipment in the gym till you feel like doing more. x

I was told I could exercise from about 6 weeks, if I remember right, but I didn't feel fully ready. I didn't do any chest or back exercises at all for a good while. I just did my lower body and used the treadmill. I don't think I would use the powerplate so early, I think the vibrations are too powerful, but it is your choice hun. I think this is actually a question someone asked James a while back, so it you do a search on powerplate, the thread should come up. xx

Thanks ladies....I'll have a look for the link. I do feel like I want to do some, but I think that focussing on my lower body first is a good idea! xx

hi rach, i exercised at about 4 - 5 weeks and ended up in hospital with plurasie? i didnt listen to my body, i went on the treadmill and the bike and did stomach but ended up getting cold which turned nasty. listen to your body, if it says stop or no then dont, would hate for you to jeopardise 5 weeks of recovery. just had reaug yesterday so will definately be relaxing, it will kill me as i workout everyday, do classes and play squash, but now realise what i did to myself, take care x

Thanks for your comments/advice! Sorry to hear about your pleuracy Sherri, I think you are right about listening to your body....since coming to England I have a really sore throat and a stinking cold so won't be even thinking about exercising at the mo!!! I'm sure that it can wait till the new year!
Have a very happy Christmas ladies!!! Xxxx
